What are the advantages of getting a RX8?
I need some help building a case to convince my dad to let me get the RX8. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It can't go over 150 mph.
It's only got a 1.3L engine. It has 4 doors. Insurance rates are low for it. It's unique design prevents you from (easily) having sex in the back seats with random girls. |

Insurance rates are very low for it. They go by number of doors, engine size, among other things.
It costs less than a 15 year old 86hp 4 banger mustang to insure. The number of doors prevent them from classifying it as a sports car :) I'm paying about $120/mo for it. Thats with full coverage, 150/300 per accident, uninsured motorist, and anything else I could get. |
Yeah! That is music to my ears. Going to use the insurance rates as a major selling point.
|
you can save 500-1000 dollars a year on insurance over a 350Z for example, but gas will cost you more, so make sure not to bring up MPG hehe...good luck
|
Is there anything that can be done to offset the gas mileage?
Maybe something that can be added to the car or something else? |
I think the insurance rates and the safety factor should be your biggest selling points to your dad. Check this out http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/NCAP/Cars/2004MidS.html.

If you attach a super huge rice wing to the back, and install it vertically, you might be able to use it as a sail to harness the wind.....
In all seriousness, you should expect no better than 16(city) - 22(highway) mpg with the RX-8 in it's current form. If that isn't acceptable, you shouldn't be considering this car. |
Yeah, moRotorMotor's right- check out the 5-star rollover test :) Also, DSC/TCS would be good safety features to point out.

What insurance companies are you all using? How come there is such a large difference in the insurance rates?

I don't think your insurance is close to what I had. I don't recall it being that bad either, but as I said, it was a years ago. PS: Your profile birthdate says you're 27... |

It depends on what you drive, what your driving record is like, how old you are, what gender you are, and what zip code you park the car at. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things too. Suffice to say, I found that switching insurance companies saved me about $200/mo from AIG Direct. Same cars, same location, same person. It's just that Amex doesn't insure high risk drivers. So you need a clean record with them. |
tell your dad you will get laid more with this car .justy dont let you r mom hear this

yes the chances of you gettin laid go up by 300%... but the best thing to bring up would be the DSC and the rollover test
BTW: im 21 with clean record and pay $197 a month for full coverage |
