Weird rattle/vibration underneath sun visor.

Hi guys,

On the passenger side of my car, when the sun visor is down, and I'm driving at approx 30miles/hour, I hear this vibration/rattling coming right underneath it.

My dad, who uses the sunroof pinpointed where exactly this was coming from. When he places his hand (applies pressure) right where the sun visor is supposed to be (when its closed), the sound disappears.
Also, when the sun visor is closed, the sound also disappears.

The strangest thing is that when my dad (who sits in the passenger seat), applies pressure right above his head where the ceiling material meets the sun roof, the vibration disappears as well. (At this point, the point where he is applying pressure is further back (in distance) from where the sound is supposed to be coming from.

If anyone has this problem and has fixed it themselves, I would greatly appreciate if you could give me advice on how to fix it.

Thanks a lot & Merry Christmas to you and your families!

It is sometimes difficult to point out where exactly the sound is coming from. Take it to the dealer and have them diagonize it. Just make sure you take the service writer or the mechanic for a ride and make him/her acknowledge that there is an issue. Orelse it would be a waste of your time. They might pull one of those unable to reproduce things on you.

Not sure if Mazda dealers do this, but the Acura guys use a nice gadget for these kinds of noises. It is probably a db meter, but is very useful to point out the exact origin of the noise.

I had a rattle recently and took it to dealership, they found and fixed - under warranty I assume because it was free.

Thanks a lot for your advice Sunil. I'll be sure to bring her in tomorrow while getting my oil changed (600 miles have now been driven).
