I was just wondering how huch this rx8 will weigh. I cant seem to find it anywhere. It would be nice if it were just as light as the 7 or lighter.

i THINK 1250ish kilo's was the last i heard. dunno if that changed or what though, this was before the final makeover. so that is around 2750 lbs which is a little lighter than the last gen 7 that was in the US.

im not exactly sure so don't quote me ;)

kinda heavy I think.

I want strip mine down to 2600

I have also been hearing and reading 2750 lbs. If Road and Track says 2950 and they are correct I wonder were the 200 extra lbs came from :confused:

If Road and Track is wrong it would not be the first time. I sometimes wonder about the accuracy of publications like Road and Track and Motor Trend.

Knowing them they probably weight the car with the driver in it.

Can't really trust these domestic magazine guys :D they probably had the driver and 3 passangers plus a full tank of gas and so they got 2950 :) Magazines are usually wrong, i remember a R&T mag that had a 1993 Rx-7 R1 running 14.1 stock and 0-60 in 5.9sec.....after reading that bullshit i quit relying on mags for information.

Really, I was under the impression that it was around 2950 lbs for the base model and the gt was pushing 3000, if not more. I don't think it is even close to 2700.

No source for it, but I thought it was in the 2900 range.

Not back in 2001 and 2002, they didn't.

The base starts at 2860. Wow, old thread. 2750 would have been brilliant on Mazda's part.

I think the common numbers are 2950 GS, 3030 GT. Still light, hundreds of pounds lighter than competitive RWD's like 350Z, G35 coupes, Mustangs, 3 series coupes...

I think the last 7 was about 2850 if I remember correctly, about the same as a S2000.

...still miss my 2300 pound miata sometimes.

the weights are vary from what package you got!
