if your temp needle moves past the halfway mark you are going to need a new engine if you keep driving it. are you overheating? this needs to be addressed now. it could be a number of things-bad t stat, blocked/cracked hose, bad rad, bad water pump, low coolant, ect... are you losing coolant?

Yes out of the bottle i also put the heating on to see if this would move the needle back down and the air was on cold and the switch was on hot

so the air out of your vents was cold but the selector was on hot? your heater core is probably clogged too (happened to me too). i would start by flushing the cooling system (do the heater core seperatly). if you drive your car with overheating problems YOU WILL DESTROY YOUR MOTOR. whats the year, mileage, auto or mt? last time you serviced your car?

You have air in your cooling system.
You need to get it properly filled with coolant, and then pressure tested to see if there's an internal coolant leak.

if it is an air bubble (sounds like it might be)

easy fix is let the car idle and get up to temp (pssibly rev it around 3-4 k to get it hot)

but leave the coolant resivoir cap off. this alot of times will help the air work its way out but keep an eye on the temp guage
