Question Warranty Question

I apologize if this has previously been discussed, but I did search for an answer and did not find one. I was wondering if adding a Borla cat back (or any cat back) exhaust would void the warranty on my RX-8. I just purchased it new in April, so I'd hate to do anything that would impact the warranty.

Thanks for the info!

-Jason

That's no big deal then, right? The powertrain and all other warranties would still be in effect?

I've never heard of any warranty issue with a cat back exhaust. Some engine mods, or other exhaust (super cats, etc) some people have had warranty trouble. I think you'll be fine. BTW - you'll love the Borla - I love mine.

i never had any trouble with the dealer about my catback. just be leary of putting a midpipe or CAI on the car. some dealers tolerate them well but others will give you immortal hell and try to void your warranty.

I put the mazdaspeed exhaust on my 8 for that reason, i wasn't sure about warranty and the mazdaspeed is for sure covered by warranty. Im sure the mazdaspeed isn't as loud as the borla but it still sounds really nice and is loud enough for me

I spoke to my dealer the other day, and they had said that if I get the work done there, pretty much everything is covered under warranty. Including a turbo.

i'm sure they wouldn't do warranty work on your engine if you had problems with it and they knew you had a turbo on it..

i think what you meant to say is that everything is warrantied in its own way, the turbo will void the powertrain warranty but you can still get your rear tail light moisture fixed under warranty

Wow, thanks to everyone for their input. I did speak to the Mazda dealership regarding it and they said that if an issue occurs that can be attributed to the exhaust, then it would not be covered under warranty. I guess when it comes down to it, with my limited car knowledge, what real problem could a cat back cause. The car would otherwise be stock.

@amstarvid - From what I've seen and heard online, the Borla definitely seems to fit what I'm looking for.
