Warranty information clarification

1 Attachment(s)
Today I got a print-out of the warranty information on the RX-8 I purchased:

Attachment 236801

I was mainly curious about the 4206F recall. I noticed on my report it has a lot of 4206F information. One says rental vehicle, PCM reprogram, another says Cust. Fuel Re (what is that?), and Cust. Vehicle.

I just want to clarify what each of those are. I know that for the recall Mazda did a compression check and test of the motor, and if you failed you got a new one. So I'm curious as to what all that means.. did I get a new motor? or was the car fine?

Also, what would be "converter?"

These typically don't make much sense. I had my buddy print one of these out for me and half the crap I have had done at the dealer is not on there. I'm not sure what the 4206F is.

Bring it in to your local dealer and ask them to clarify.

probably replaced catalytic converter under 8yr/100k emission warranty. mine got replaced just a bit over 7k miles.
PCM reprogram being flashing ECU.

right below that, though is Catalytic converter. Done at 15k miles in '06. Same time as 4206F recall.

4206f is the most famous recall of all. Summer of 2006, at the height of bad press about engine failures. It was a voluntary (for Mazda) emissions recall. They did a vacuum test on the engine to see if the seals were OK. If it flunked, you got a new engine. If it passed, you got an ECU reflash, which corrected most of the ECU related issues about oil injection and flooding. (Flooding fixed by delaying fuel injection until the engine spun a couple of times, plus cutting it off when cranking if floored.)

When you left your car, you got a free rental. They usually did a fillup and a wash before you picked it up.

They made a big thing of "White glove treatment," with bad engines replaced with remanufactured (Ha!) rather than letting the dealers dig into the innards.

okay so because I got the PCM flash, that means my engine checked out ok?

I'm beginning to understand it more.

Yes. It passed the tests they were doing for 4206f. There should be a TSB posted here saying exactly what they tested.

Yeah I knew what they tested, didn't know if I passed or not.
