Warranty extended through 5 years 60k

I got a letter from Mazda saying they are extending my warranty to 60 months and 60k miles. Any one else get one of these? This must be part of a PR project or something.

Everyone gets it. It's part of the recall.

My grandmother doesn't even know what the internet is and she knows about this thread: https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-media-news-11/mazda-expects-recall-rx-8s-97039/

Mazda should provide a minimum 100,000 mile engine warranty.

danielk015 09-04-2006 03:15 AM

^ Agreed... 1 year 10K is pretty sad... i already emailed mazda to express my concern for the low extension when i plan on keeping the car for the long haul...

Yes, but doesn't a recall cover a defect even beyond the warranty? I am afraid I get a used one that tests out ok but then the apex seals give out at 80K, and I'm screwed.

jesus christ, must you post this shit in every fucking thread? Yes, we understand you hate mazda and you're pissed off. You think mazda should hand deliver a car to your door with playboy playmates.

Fucking drop it already.

They will cover it provided the MOP was the cause, if you're cars fine now (i don't know how many miles you have, would have been nice to post that), and it dies at 80k, then I doubt they'll rebuild your engine. Search next time, this question has been answered 9230698109341820949182904 times.

1) I don't hate Mazda

What is your objection to a 100,000 mile warranty that we have now been told has issues that can lead to failure?

You're basically saying that an extra 10,000 miles of warranty protection is satisfactory, either to give you piece of mind, or to help sell the car is that's what you intended to do?

What are you? A dealer?

khoney 09-04-2006 10:18 AM

5 years/60K? Save the postage, Mazda - I'm already at 61700.

jimmy69 09-04-2006 10:25 AM

i dont think that 100k is fair to mazda......many cars are shot after 100k anyway
does anyone know what they charge for an extended warranty? like say after 60k till 120k....

I'm speaking of 100,000 miles JUST on the engine, since that is the issue.

Hyundai is giving 100,000 powertrain waranties on new cars without problems.

Mazda has a verifiable problem with the motor on its hands (well, we do, at any rate).

First of all, don't put words in my mouth.

Secondly you've made a point to post in many of the threads regarding the recall and the new warranty extension with your opinion that mazda should extend our warranties to 100k. We get it. If you have that much of a problem with it, call mazda, complain to MNAO, start a petition.

If you feel that strongly about it, stop complaining about it on an internet board and do something about it.

Nice to see Mazda finally stepping up to the plate. Lets see if there service at the dealer improves as well.

CosmosMpower 09-05-2006 03:06 AM

This warranty is for powertrain only right? I'm more concerned about the interior crap that will break. I've already had so many squeaks/rattles/broken cupholder doors/sunvisors etc and the car is 5 MONTHS old.

Its not the apex seals that you should be concerned about.
