Very dumb question about warranty

new poster. Sorry, i'm a newbie. I'm getting a used 2005 rx8 next week but I just have 1 question. im going to buy the car from a small dealership that sell many car makes, not just mazda. can i still take the car to any mazda dealer for warranty repair issues? does it matter where i brought the car?

I'm might move to another state a few months after my purchase, thats why im asking.... again sorry for the dumb question. thanks.

Before you buy the car, get the VIN and take it to a Mazda dealer's service department.

Warranty is not dependent on being the original (or whatever number) purchaser. It is dependent on the time / mileage since the car was first sold at retail.

They will be able to tell you the 'In Service date' - when the car was originally sold.

You will be able to figure out the remaining warranty from that.

Also, the Mazda Service will be able to tell you if there are any outstanding recalls, and what Warranty work has been performed on the car.

IMHO, with any car purchase, it is worth the $$ to have the car given a thorough mechanical check (including compression) prior to purchase. It may be the best couple 'o hundred you ever spend on a car.

Also in the US, Carfax, or whatever, is apparently a must.
