Used 2004 RX-8 GT with no owners manual???

Ok so I recently purchased a used RX-8 GT and drove it home only to find out it didn't come with a owners manual and now I can't set a damned thing in the car. Of course, I called the dealership and they say that most of the used cars don't come with a manual, and I'd have to buy on for 40 bucks. It's down right disgusting, paying over 20,000 for a car and can't get a owners manual for free....anyone know where I can get a PDF format or other substantially formatted file?

MazdaJeff 06-07-2007 10:15 AM

Can't answer the PDF question, but what are you trying to set?

kersh4w 06-07-2007 11:12 AM

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-...spagenameZWD1V

hope the rest of the car pans out better than this. this is a fun car.

Bondo 06-07-2007 11:41 AM

You can get the PDF @ Mazdausa.com....Just register your RX8 using the "owners" section located on the top of the page

cgeo77 06-07-2007 12:34 PM

same thing happened to me. I bought the car and then didn't think to check for the owner's manual until a day later and there was none. I have the PDF file but its a pain in the arse not having an actual manual in the car.

Tamas 06-07-2007 12:36 PM

Yuo could print it out :)

Illmatic 06-07-2007 02:00 PM

There is a manual for free to download on mazda canada you don't even have to register. A few things will be different though, but they are minor.

I can't link to it because it's a flash site but go to mazda.ca then select english then in the top info bar select parts and service then underneath it go to owner's lounge then under that it'll say owners manual. All Mazda's covered 2008-2002. :)

StewC625 06-07-2007 03:48 PM

Hey, at least with no manual you have an excuse if someone yells at you, "READ THE F'ING MANUAL, NOOB!"

:D

MiamiRX-8 06-07-2007 04:52 PM

Thats why mazda is ranked so low in customer service...

AND, factual info to back up the opinion ... YUP, pretty damn low!

RojoOcho 06-07-2007 06:12 PM

When I bought my RX-8 last year, it was the first used car I ever bought that had the manual with it... I've always gone to forums for my previous for dilemmas ('93 MX-6 V6, '01 Wolfsburg Jetta)

coll3735 06-07-2007 11:17 PM

Its pretty easy to find on the internet; but interesting enough, when I bought my '04 6MT GT, I received no manual.

This was good advice.

Its easy to download the PDF for your year of Mazda from http://www.mazda.ca/ (English, Parts and Service section).

Then you just find some place to print the PDF.

MazdaManiac 06-08-2007 02:03 AM

Of course, its on my site like everything else...

QuiksilverO2 06-08-2007 06:48 AM

Thanks a lot fellas, I went to the canada site and pulled it off there. Ok, anyone got a used printer they want to sell me??

Just kidding. Time to go set the clock!

kersh4w 06-08-2007 09:03 AM

oh man.. i do believe in my house we have about 4 or 5 extra printers laying about. they were all special deals when buying a computer to get it free. and i need a new one, as my current printer/scanner does not work with vista.

i hate vista... -_-

QuiksilverO2 06-08-2007 10:16 PM

Well hey I've still got XP, send one over this way.

As noted above, its on my site. Been there for 3 years.
As a matter of fact, your Russian link is just a rip from my site, anyway.

QuiksilverO2 06-09-2007 12:51 PM

Most definitely man, this is quite a find!

What a stupid fu-king comment. Just so I have it straight, Mazda is supposed to stock extra manuals for old models and give them out for free whenever someone wants one because a prior owner was such an a-hole that they stole it? Gimme a break. I think there are a lot of valid complaints about service issues that hurt Mazda in the consumer satisfaction survey, but I can't see this being one of them, especially when they make the pdf version available for FREE!!!

Well how are you going to sell a car for $25,000 and not tell the new owner it doesn't come with a manual? How the hell are they supposed to be able to set anything, or figure out what fuse does what and everything else? Oh, and you may not know, but not everyone in the world has the internet and can just go download one. I think you're the one with the "stupid fu-king comment".

StewC625 06-12-2007 09:18 AM

Wow, you guys are Sofa King quick to bash each other!

The car was used, ding-dong. If it was a new car, I could see you argument, but to make Mazda or any dealer for that matter stock back manuals and give them out for free seems like an awful lot. Show me any auto manfuacturer that does that. And oh yeah, if you're spending 25K as you say on a car (Who pays 25K for a used 04 RX???) you have access to the internet whether it be at home, with a friend, the local library, or heaven forbid, Kinkos. So whos stupid now bitch!

You're probably the same type person who thinks the Nav update discs should be free because it's a Mazda, even though Benz charges $200 for their upgrade discs.

Ok, so now you want to it out of the original context by bashing me on the price? That price is tax, title, interest, and whatever other fees wrapped up into one price you moron, because yeah, if someone were to spend that much on THE CAR ITSELF I'd see your point.

But as for the "stupid now bitch" part of your statement, that'd be you. =)

wow,

what is your beef.. you did not look for an owners manual before you bought a used car??? did you research the history? or the service on the car...

the owners manual you have... how? research after the sale... not the best way to buy a car.

beers

Yawn, you brought up the price by trying to defend why you should get a free manual on a 3+ year-old car as opposed to downloading it from the web and playing the "woe is me" game with regards to not everyone having internet access. All I did was point out the holes in your argument, specifically that if you can afford 25k for a car, you have access to the Internet (and since you are posting on here, you prove it!!!). As to the price, who knows if that is good or not (your car could be clean, with extremely low miles, etc... but 25k out the door still seems high given that people are getting new cars out the door for the same price. At the end of the day, if you're happy with you car, that's all that matters.

At the end of the day who is responsible for buying a car without a manual? That'd be you, as you bought the car and didn't check for one. It's not Mazda, not the used car dealer, not the prior a-hole owner who is probably selling it on ebay. And where is the cut-off, is in a 3 year old car or a 20 year old car? So when I buy my bitchin' Smokey and The Bandit Trans Am and it's missing the manual, I should call up my local Pontiac dealer and tell them to hook me up for free?

Answer me this: Why do you feel you are entitled to a free hardcopy of the manual for your car? I am yet to hear a good argument for why you should get it. Give me a good one, and hell I'll buy it for you. Just like Judge Smails said in Caddyshack, "We're waiting!!!".

Ok, so you've got somewhat of a point there, but the car is also a Mazda Certified used car as well, and I'm sure you already know what all that entails. Since this all initially started with you bashing on someone for saying "No wonder why Mazda ranks so low in customer service", you'd think if the company can provide a 12 month bumper to bumper warranty and a 36 month powertrain warranty (after the remaining factory warranty), you'd think they could afford to put a missing 40 buck manual inside the car as well. Hell, mark the car up another 40 dollars after the fact for all I could care...my point is, when the customer brings the car home and can't figure out how to set or manipulate anything because they didn't get a owners manual when they bought it, they might tend to get a bit ticked off, and that would relate to customer service ratings being lower than most. You're right, buying a "smokey and the bandit trans am" and asking for a manual from pontiac would be ridiculous, but I'm not talking about buying a car from Joes Garage that's been around since the dawn of time.

You know, frankly the only reason I shot back at you initially was because of your ignorance in bashing someone just making a simple comment. Everyones entitled to their own opinion you know, so you should learn to be a little more respectful of others.

And one other thing, when you show me where you can buy a new RX-8 out the door for 25k, let me know. I'd like to take a look at that car.
