Two more recalls! Hooray!

1) Fuel pump pipe for MY2004 - MY2008

I'm confused by the statement that there are two fuel pumps in our cars.

2) Ball joint failure for MY2004

Transfer pump, we have a pump that moves fuel from one side of the tank to the other.

Reoze 06-08-2017 12:59 PM

Replacing the control arms would change the alignment, right?

200.mph 06-08-2017 01:01 PM

yes

mafiaboy01 06-08-2017 01:03 PM

Are they going to be replacing the whole sending unit/fuel pump assembly?

Jedi54 06-08-2017 01:05 PM

add this to the list of outstanding recalls I already have.
:banghead:

Reoze 06-08-2017 01:06 PM

im wondering if they're going to bother throwing a free alignment in. Not to mention the people with custom alignments. A good custom alignment with a corner balance can run $400-700 around here.

and I was just about to call my Mazda dealer and get the first 3 done this weekend

I thought it was one pump and it had something vaguely like a venturi system to pull fuel from the passenger side.

Look at the linked file under the heading "Description of Remedy".

You're right, the Sub Tank Suction Pipe Bracket, is the second pump they must be referring to. I guess there is a little miscommunication, maybe because that bracket is mounted via the same gasket and ring as the fuel pump?

That's pretty incredible. Recall for a vehicle manufactured 14 years ago. Go Mazda?

To be fair, the fuel pump issue is almost an addendum to the existing fuel tank recall. Sounds like it has the same cause as the o-ring failure.

It says: The repair will be to replace the fuel pump filter kit with an improved one.

I'm not sure what "fuel pump filter kit" entails.

When you figure it out be sure to share with the rest of the class.

So what if I have an S2 pump assembly? Am I good in that aspect? Besides the previous recall about the O-Ring and Insulation?

Will do Prof.

Damn, I hope the LCA recall gets expanded to '05... I want new balljoints haha.

Woe

Do these recalls ever end. So disappointing.

40w8 06-09-2017 04:56 AM

I think Mazda takes more responsibility than say BMW.

Nearly every car ever made has several issues some of which aren't fixable like body rusting of GM cars in 70's.

I'm not sure I want them messing with fuel pump after I put in BHR retrofit, and it's not leaking.

I wouldn't mind the insulation though.

Wait what? Mazda is fixing for free an age-related issue you may not even have, many years after the warranty has run out... what is disappointing, exactly?

Based on her other posts it seems like she's disillusioned with the '8 and it's coloring her responses.

That's my take on it as well.

tgaffner 06-09-2017 09:20 AM

What "pipe" are they talking about? The nipple that comes off the top of the assembly that the supply line hooks to?

I think that's happened to all of us at one point, to some extent or another. It wasn't until I lost my first that I really started appreciating the car.
