Transmission problems.
Yesterday, I was unable to get my 2004 MT into reverse twice. I had to push very hard to get it into gear. The same thing happened today. Eventually it got worse, and now I can barely get it into any gear. I was at a light, and I pushed the clutch in to put it into first. It would not go into any gear at all. I had to sit there for almost a minute trying to get it into gear. If I turn the car off, I can shift in and out of every gear easily. I don't know whats going on. I haven't had any other problems except for hard shifting during 1-2, and sometime grinding going into 5th. The only enviroment change I've noticed is the temperature. It recently froze two days in a row. My friend also said he had problems getting his 8 in gear. Please help me. Thanks.

you should know by now how many tranny-problem threads there are. if you can shift fine without the transmission spinning and can't shift when it is spinning....then obviously its a synchro problem. take it to the dealer bro...looks like you need a tranny overhaul.

it really doesn't matter at this point. if you're having that much difficulty shifting while the car is in motion, there isn't much you can do. does it grind every time? more info would help out a little.
sometimes when you're at a complete stop, it's normal if you can't put the transmission in a certain gear. this usually happens when going into first from a dead stop. try putting it in 2nd and 1st. if it still does it, try pumping the clutch pedal a couple times. it's normal. if you're grinding while the car is moving, then you have issues. |
