Traction light stays on

So im driving down a stright road yesterday and the traction light (one that looks like a car skiding in amber) comes on and stays on. I dont notice anything wrong. Drive about another 30 min and park. Turn the car off and start it and the light is off. Goto work for 8ish hours, leave and drive home. Light doesnt come on. Drive to teh club (about 45 min away) after about 20 min or so the light comes on. same thing happens stays on till i get to park then on the ride home its off the whole way.

Any ideas?

Have you disconnected the battery lately. That will do it, there is a procedure for resetting the DSC-TCS. Check your owners manual, it tells you what to do if crazy odd things start to happen, such as the stability control light staying on, when you did not turn it off.

Best bet, If oyu cant figure out what is going on, take it in, it could be a sensor malfunction, a wire loose, or some other random thing that is upsetting a failry complex computer.

Good luck getting it figured out.

In addition to what L8APEX says, if you have installed aftermarket wheels with different sizes front to rear, that may cause a false sensor signal to the ECU.

Also check your tire pressure.

It might be the TPMS icon, not the DCS?

it would be a bit hard to confuse the two, and describe the DSC/TCS light. The TPMS light looks like a cross section of a tire, with an exlcamation point in the middle. But stranger things have happened.

remove the bulb, the light should go off.... but yea, i would say search, i think it has happened to other owners before.

This also happened to me and you have to reset the computer. All you need to do is start the engine and turn the wheel all the way to the right then all the way back to the left then turn off the car. When you restart it the light should not come back on

^... is that how to reset the computer?

no actaully that only resets the DSC/TCS and turns the light on, letting you know that it's working properly. I think it mentions this in the manual.

I had the same thing happen when I bought mine. The battery in my car had been dead for MONTHS at the dealership, hence why a 05 only had 8 miles. I was wondering about it too, until i read the manual...then I felt stupid again.

Uhhh, I believe the "bulb" is an LED permanently affixed to the instrument panel PC board. Not easy to remove. But you could put a piece of tape over it. :)

Happened to me too when a defective cabin LED shorted out and blew a fuse.
I did the PCM rest procedure and the light stayed lit until I disconnected the battery over-night.
It cleared my Radio Presets and also fixed my my problem...

"allmotorRX8" post is incorrect...
even "if" the light could be removed it would just be hiding any underlying problem(s)...

This is what I have done, I bought a new tyre for my front wheel but matched the size of the old one, yet I have the DSC light coming on every now and then, is this something i should be concerned about....

What might be happening is if the other three tires are a little worn and you put a new tire on the car the DSC system detects the difference in rotation of the worn and new tires and triggers the light.

This is why with a AWD car if you have tires with a lot of miles on them if you destroy one of the tires you have to replace all the tires not just the bad one. The AWD system will detect the difference in rotation of the old and new tires and stay activated.

Thanks man this really set me at ease starting worrying at first.
