Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires its a high performance all season comes with a 48 000 mile warranty able to handle cold temps with out turning it to squares also able to handle a little snow. I've put a few 100km on my set so far and am pretty happy.
Another thing you should consider is how the tire is built. Look at when a tire is balanced how many or how much weight they are putting on the wheel. All my michelin tires have 0 weights added to the wheel. Granted I do a high low alignment on the wheel to tire bead but still. Michelin's almost never need weights to balance out the tire. BF Goodrich is great on trucks, but I don't recommend them on a car. Your best bet, and I know its 50 dollars more a tire is the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 225/45 18. they run you about 200 dollars a tire. They are extremely good tires though, and you will love the handling as well as safety of the tire. heres some general information for you: http://www.tirereview.com/Content/Si...0000025120.pdf http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=120 |

Good Year Eagle GT's
Great Grip, excellent predictability.-and pretty cheap. I run these in the cold monts, (I use the star specs for summer) and I'm very impressed at how well the keep up w/ the star specs. Buy from a local independent Tire dealer. I'd never recomend a place like costco. I don't recomend supporting stores like that for anything. Why is everything made in China? - Because of stores like that and Americans who support them. |

I gotta admit i ran the SPTs they r great for daily and some moderate canyon drive. I even ran them twice at tracks jus for kicks. Yea they can get greasy very quick but its only when u really push the tires to the limit. I dont think ur daughter is gonna b doin any track events. Im currently running sumitomo jus cuz i got em as a steal and i decided to give em a try. IMO dont get sumitomo tires for ur RX8. They r only great on EVOs and STIs.

. What your daughter has now is most probably Kumho Ecsta SPT's. These are most probably the CHEAPEST tire you can buy in 225/18/45 (at $124 per tire at Tire Rack), the least amount of noise, best wet traction, and longest wear. .
Direzza Star Specs are very quiet and smooth riding for max perf tires. |

I will never again even CONSIDER Sumitomo tires for an RWD car. |
I agree with Krazed, I have had 3 sets of Toyo T1R's and they are great in all weather and they last forever.

I haven't had to buy tires for the rx8 yet but on my old car I always bought Kumho Ecsta ASX's they are pretty cheap at about $110 a tire(on discount tire, not sure what they are other places) and I got great traction in dry, wet, or snow. I lived in colorado so at times there was some good snow to test them in. I loved those tires.
Of course the price depends on what size wheels you have, I am looking at 18's now and those are $150 a piece, rather than the nearly $110 for 16's. |

^Terrible in wet..Actually they are pretty good in wet..Do you not know how to control a car?

The Dunlops are ok in the wet for a dry weather high performance tire. They are not good in the wet if you don't know what you are doing. I wouldn't put my daughter on them and ask her to drive in the rain.. an all season tire would be much better. There, happy? |
