Throw-Out Bearing Replacement - Warranty
Well, I was dealing with a slight annoying "squeak" for a while. It would only do it when the clutch was not engaged. I read some posts on here that it is probably the throw out bearing.
Since it was still under warranty I just took it in to get replaced. Part of me wishes I just got the BHR bearing with the plastic on the inside because I don't want to have to keep replacing this thing. My car only has 34k on it...anybody else having this problem? Car runs great...but I've already had the synchros replaced in the tranny as well. BAH! |
Dust gets up there.
We have been told that squirting lubricant up there has solved the problem for some cars. |
as far as the waranty is concerned, the dealer states that there is only a 12month or 12K mile warranty on the clutch components. my t/o bearing is bad and i have 31K on my 05 and am fighting with the dealer to replace it as i bought the car less than a month ago and they said it was quality inspected and all problems were adressed. it was making noise when i bought the car and the car goes in tomorrow for service. i'll let you know how it goes as my experience may help you.

That's interesting...I don't let them take my car unless it's free or I agree to pay before hand.
I figure the bumper to bumper warranty means exactly that...if a screw is loose you better fix it...depends on the Dealership though. The dealership here in Blacksburg is pretty good about that stuff and they work on ALOT of RX-8's. I pulled mine into the garage...and 5 minutes later another Sunlight Silver pulls up behind me. |

yeah bumper to bumper warranty is to cover everything except excludes(or supposed to exclude) certain thing like tires are not coverd and all clutch components are (i was told) to b covered for 1 yr or 12,000 miles whichever comes first!

The BHR release bearing is ALL metal - no plastic involved is what I think you meant to say.
Also found out that they are replacing my headlight. It looked like it was getting corroded from the inside on the light on the plastic. Weird because I've never popped them open before. |
