Thoughts on Advance Auto Parts
1 Attachment(s)
I need to replace the fuel pump and secondary air injection solenoid, along with the ignition coils, wires and spark plugs. What are your thoughts/opinion in ordering from Advance auto parts? I know they're not OEM parts but its compatible as far as I know and less expensive.
I wasnt able to find the solenoid I need on that site thou. |
The fuel pump from Adavance says Airtex but in the box is an Aaram pump (OEM Mazda). I'm not sure why it says Airtex. Coils (get lifetime warranty ones), wires, and plugs (oem NGK) will be fine as well.
Also, when ordering from Advance use the promo codes and you can have it shipped to the store or home. Advance Auto Parts Coupons, Promo Codes & Deals 2014 | Slickdeals |
Fwiw, I've used them for years, and I haven't had any problems.
I usually stay away from the cheaper options & get the lifetime parts if offered. |
I have Lifetime brake pads from them and have never had a problem.

Check Rock Auto's prices.

Thanks Evryone, Appreciate the advice and opinions! :icon_tup::icon_tup:

I twice have bought plugs from Advance with no problems and good prices. I have the BHR kit for my coils and wires, which should last the lifetime of my RX8. So I don't know the quality of any Advance "lifetime warranty" coils and wires.
|
Ask your local folks above advance. I am not a fan of the ones around here (Franchise). But the ones in Savannah are top notch. They got me a fuel pump on a Saturday. I have had it in for a few years and it has been grand.

Thanks guys!...One more thing thou, I know that there's 3 solenoids (Done my research) and I need to replace the "Secondary Air Injection Solenoid", thats what Mazda said, so I might sound like an idiot but I want to make sure, which is that solenoid I need, AIR, SSV, or VDI? I think its the AIR...correct me if Im wrong, thanks again!

Advance to my knowledge is selling quality parts and since buying out CARQUEST have only strengthen their ties with manufacturers and other sources so they don't have to resort to trying to pass off cheap crap
|
And Carquest owns WorldPac, which is the largest supplier of OEM parts for imported makes in the US outside of the dealer supply chains.

I just wanted to leave this here. I work for advance and we only stock quality parts. The reason our cheap brake pads are 20$ and some other placez have 8$ pads is quality. We could sell you the same 8$ pads if we stocked them.
Another thing dont buy coils or pads from us expecting to waratee Them out everytime the go bad. Most lifetime warranty stuff is against deffects only. |

been getting warranty replacements from advanced auto for years on ignition coils without issues. how exactly do you expect them to make you prove out they are defective lol... smh

good for you, but the Advance auto guys near me I know well and they would have only replaced them if they found them noticeably defective, not just worn. When I once considered going that route, that is what they told me. Luckily I chose to get the BHR kit, and I am happy I did !

Ugh I just reread that post grammar is horrible. Hate posting from my phone. Wifi card is out on my pc..
Anyhow, if the employees at your local store dont know anything about the fact these coils begin to fail after about 30k it will be easy to get over on them. So it jus it varies from store to store. However you are still basically stealing. Karma will go full circle. |

Ethically questionable yes ... theft, not exactly. |
You know the coils we carry are OEM coils right? OE is the stuff mazda sells you, OEM is the stuff we buy from the same people that mazda buys from.
Unless the OEM is still making multiple revisions of the coils we are getting the newest one. A lie by omission is still a lie. Theft by deception is still theft. If you go in with the attitude that you are gonna swap the coil out saying it is bad because it is defective instead of just worn out then yes you are stealing. If you genuinely thought the warranty was a lifetime warranty against failure then no. Especially if the just go ahead and warranty it out. But I would have to say you gotta be doing a good bit of driving to put 30k on a coil before it the warranty info purges from our computers. Or keeping good track of receipts. |
