Thinking about buying R3

Hello everyone!

We owned a 2005 RX8 but sold it in 2007. My wife drove it in lots of traffic so we had bought the automatic, bad idea. So I want to buy another RX8 this time for me and it will be a manual

So, I am thinking of buying an R3, the price quote from the dealer was $26688.00. I am worried about how stiff the ride is. I should maybe just get the GT.

Anyhow, what do the R3 owners out there think about the R3? Should I just go with the GT?

Any ideas? Help me choose, I have been struggling whit this decision for days.

I'd still go with the R3. If you are worried about ride comfort, drive them both to see, but I'd bet that you won't really notice a difference in comfort.

it's really no stiffer than my 05 with rb sways was. It just feels more solid all around than my old one. one thing though, the recaros can feel a little tight around you if you arent a small person. I'd recommend test driving one to see if it's for you.

great car in my opinion.

Take a test drive.

The problem will be the seats verses sunroof.

Which you like better.

dont think. there isnt many left. you gotta hurry

its not hard but pretty firm. I'm 24 I feel it just barely acceptable if the road is bumpy.
the seat is not adjustable, I'm 5'7 its a bit low for me but not a big problem.

too late.. they just sold the last one here in CaliFoNia

My 2 Cents:

1) The ride feels solid, handles very well for stock, and I fit very well in it. (I'm 6'5") ;)

2) Amidst the other contenders (G35,Sk2,1-Series) I for some reason liked it the best. I liked the interior a lot more, I can live with the added flash, and it's set apart from a lot of cars you come across on the road. However, it also gets some of worse gas mileage on the road. ::See Below:::

I say get it! We need all the mazda interest we can muster right now. That 16x has to come soon!

If he isn't a small person, I'd be happy to trade him my regular leather RX-8 seats. ;)

Thanks for the responses.

Its a 2010 R3, velocity red mica. I am waiting to here from the dealership today. I have to decide if I want the R3 or GT.

Am I a big guy, well I am not little and I am not overweight, 47 y/o, 6 ft tall 230 lbs. I guess I should sit in the R3 and see how if feels. However, there is only 1 within fifty miles of me, not sure if there are any more than fifty away.

I really like the body on the R3 but have to give up some other niceties of the GT. I do not see myself taking it the the track so the R3 features are kind of not needed.

Oh well. I guess I better decide.

No thinking, get the R3.

Problem solved.

Razz1 09-12-2010 10:57 AM

Well... like I said tst drive it on a long ride. Make sure your damn 6 Ft is comfotable in the car.

If not you have your answer.

By the way.. don't forget to recline the seat a little. Check the access in and out and the tight seats.

Only you can decied Padewan....

Use the force.

R3s are not in fact particularly tough to find if you're willing to travel. There is a dealer in the Chicago area with three new R3s, priced at 23900, 24700, and 24900. I would work your dealer on the price - or book a flight...

moeswrx 09-12-2010 07:26 PM

So, is the GT seat height adjustable?

Do the R3 man .... I've had mine for a year and love it. doesn't ride too hard, not sure why that's so commonly said.
