Are these 09RX8 GT stock tires?
 

My 09 RX8 GT, purchased used, came with Dunlop Tires and I wonder if they were the original stock tires or the owner had the original ones replaced.

OEM is Bridgestone. They dont last long, so replacing is common. Mine lasted 12,000 miles, where the same driving got me 35,000 on grippier Yokohama S.Drives.

My 09 has 27000 miles on it and I do not know when, if the OEM weere Bridgestones, the previous owner changed them and I do not know how to tell if the Dunlop Sporting tires currently on are summer or all season and whether I should purchase new snow tires or get by since the weather is not too snowy here in the winter. Also, every morning the tire inflation sign comes on and disappers if I take a drive so I probably do not need to add air.

Walk out to your 8, read what model of tire it is. Come back to the computer and go to tire rack's website and look them up to see the classification.

Yes, you need air. Air expands as it heats up, and this expansion brings the tire pressure up as you drive. It is just a bit too low. Father into winter, it wouldnt go away as the cold groung keeps the temp low.

I'm not sure about the 09's but both Dunlops and Bridgestones were factory options. New, My stock 8 had bridgestones and my buddies then new RX-8 had Dunlops.

Interesting. I was unaware of this.

Besides needing air, as RIWWP has pointed out, you need a tire pressure gauge.

My 2005 came with Dunlops from factory.

Yea I had dunlops on mine when I bought it used at 18k and they were almost dead. Horrible tires.

It's funny because you always hear that the bridge-stones wore out quickly yet my original set last 30,000 miles with a few autocrosses on them and when I replaced them they were not bald.

Well I am generally pretty good on tires but the person who had the car for 18k miles before me must have had some real fun. The dunlops still had a bit of use on them(maybe 30% tread not counting wear bars) when I got new tires so I never got to see what they were like brand new. Like anything else it just comes down to the person driving, some people just cant stop burning up tires.

My 2011 Sport came with the Dunlops, while another forum member has a 2010 GT that came with Bridgestones.

So, either is possible.

My 2005 came with Bridgestone. When i was browsing for tires on tirerack.com, the oem replacement tires were Bridgestone.

S Drives are not grippier than RE040s in the dry. The mileage attained on both of yours is evidence of that fact. Stop spreading wrong information that's perpetuated by a handful here.

My 2009 RX-8 GT came with Dunlops.
