Is there anything that we can get to allow the engine to run a few minutes after we have left it, similar to how a turbo timer works?

I'm considering picking up an 8 this summer, but I often make frequent short (sub 10 min) stops around town and I would absolutely hate sitting in there killing time waiting and hoping it starts at my next twist of the key.

Advanced search is good, regular search, not so much.


You will probably never find "killing time waiting" to be a problem. It's too much fun to drive to actually decide to just sit in it to avoid potential flooding.

But once it's warm, it's warm. If you hit operating temp and then spend the rest of the day doing short 10 mins trips you will have little problem with flooding. Takes too long to cool down.

 

10 minutes is more then enough time for the car to warm up.. Well in florida anyways, I dont even get off my street (1-2 mins) before the needle is in the center. I dont see it taking mroe then 10 minutes unless your driving in the artic circle or somthing.

A turbo timer will work anyways, it really has nothing to do with a turbo, other then the name. It just allows the car to continue running for several minutes after its shut off... Most alarms with remote start also have a turbo timer function where you can hit one of the buttons before you shut off the car and it will keep running.. That is what I would suggest because you can start it a few mins early, let it warm up, hop in and go, get out and let it continue to run a few mins and cool down.

 

IMHO the flood issue, today, is overblown.

 

yup, not NEARLY as big of an issue as it was in '04. New plugs, battery, starter, and flash has pretty much elminiated flooding.
