test drive

i just test drove the rx8 today and i love it for the most part. i handles great and very little body roll. the only thing that i don't like is the power, i don't know if i have the slow rx8 with the oldest flash or i'm just used to driving my prelude which has 365whp. i'm still gonna buy an rx8 since i'm not too worried about power anymore. the navigation is sweet too. when it started talking to me i freaked. just a couple questions.

1) how do you update the navi
2) does the navi play dvd's
3) how do i know what flash i have
4) if i have the old flash, how do i get them to give me the new flash

thanks in advance.

Wow, 365 whp. You're literally going to cut your power in half.

1.) the navigation uses DVDs so you can get new DVDs from the dealer presumably.

2.) no, you cannot watch movies on it. some people have rigged up a third-party device to let you use the lcd screen, but you'll need a portable dvd player or something to play them.

3/4.) ask your dealer to make sure you have the latest one. if it's a mazda dealership and/or it's still under warranty they'll do it for you in a flash -- get it...hahaha

i had a fully built h22 with a 62-1 turbo running 15psi. sold it just to get an 8, i fell in love with the looks. plus 365whp is not ideal for the streets. my turbo was so big it felt like a pig below 5000rpm, then when the boost and vtec kicked in it just spun tires all the way till 4th even with my lsd. kinda sucked actually. now i want a rwd that handles.

bs on what mugatu! you don't think a built turbcharged honda can make 365whp? it's actually not that hard. if you still doubt me i have pictures and dyno sheets i can email you. anyway, just go to honda-tech, there is plenty of 300-500whp honda's there.

I believe him, it can be done.....
Just ask him how much torque it made.

REMEMBER Horse Power sells engines, TORQUE moves them.......

That's sort of a generic statement. Peak horsepower is just an application of the cars ability to do work (torque) over time. Yeah, ultimately car manufacturers would just give you a torque curve, but horsepower gives you a good idea of what the torque curve looks like.

HP = TQ x RPM / 5252

or

TQ = HP x 5252 / RPM

You can get a vague idea of an engine's power curve by calculating HP at the TQ peak, then connecting the dots.

He's saying that the blower on came on line around 5,000 RPM. Even with a power peak around 6,500 (rarely much higher with a turbo) and you've still got over 300 ft-lbs of torque.

Resist what? Turning yet another thread into an RX-8 vs. STI thread? You're not a troll why?

Now see, you just escalated it out of nowhere. He was making a joke, hence the funny emoticon. You're the one who said "RX-8 vs. STI" first. And you called him a troll.

And I'm supposed to think it wasn't your fault, why?

Hey loser, please stop stalking me.
It's pretty childish and retarded to keep saying that I have an automatic 8 when I have a manual. You need to grow up. Probably yet another reason why you're 55 and can't afford anything better than a $25K entry coupe.

Also, per this post of yours:

Your wife is the one who drives the RX-8 to work, so she probably drives it much more than you do.

Guy from washington state had a coworker talk **** saying he can beat his camaro with his prelude. He was blabbering about his h22 swap blah blah blah...2 videos....the guy got RAPPED...like not even close! Then the guy went onto the site and said he thought he could have had him from a dig to 40 etc etc...talking out of his ***...trying to explain the reason he got owned.

Funniest part...the dudes girl was in the car (camaro) and she asked if the car was going in reverse
