I was looking at Mazda's website today because I'm creating a webpage for my class about the RX8 and look what I found. Is this a typo or are we really suppose to have a 5 speed automatic?

its not a typo. the automatic version has 5 gears. which you can select sequentially via the little paddles behind the steering wheel. our manuals get the 6th gear as an overdrive.

 

I don't know about ya'll but my automatic RX-8 only has 4 gears. THAT IS A TYPO!

 

Maybe they're counting Reverse

 

it's a mistake for 2004 rx8's but could be a hint for 2005. if true that would indicate a change in the intake manifold for the auto.

call or email them and ask. let us know what they say.

 

Its under 2004 RX8, I looked in some other areas and it said 4 speed. It must be a typo!

isnt the 5th gear like overdrive or seomthing?

 

I have heard somewhere that the 5-speed auto is supposed to be out in the 2006 model rather than than the 2005. Obviously this could be wrong or things can/will change.

If things could culminate in 2006 (turbo and the 5 speed AT) then that would be cool.
