Stolen RX-8
1 Attachment(s)
Sadly, I have to report that my RX-8 was stolen at some point this morning/afternoon. It was my fault - the key fell out of my pocket as I rushed out of the car to make a train (something I would have noticed if I attempted to lock the car...but I didn't...), but total mental lapse and I left it unattended with the keys inside or near the car. I think most likely on the driver's seat, that damn smart key falls out of my pockets constantly. Not my finest moment...
It is a 2007 Grand Touring, black, with gunmetal-ish plasti-dipped wheels. It has a custom fiberglass subwoofer enclosure that fits in the right-side pocket in the trunk. Alpine head unit, JBL speakers. Cream leather interior. 6mt. Otherwise pretty standard. ~75k miles. Kicking myself, can't believe I made such a boneheaded move. I'm posting here just in case folks see parts matching the description(s) popping up for sale, or perhaps the whole care (as unlikely as it is). Theft occured in the Boston, MA area. If anyone needs more detailed information/descriptions, let me know. I can provide the VIN as well, would rather not post in the thread though. Edit: Note that the mazda emblem on the nose of the car is now plasti-dipped matte black (chrome in the picture) |
Wow, in all my years here this is only the second or third RX-8 I have heard of getting stolen. Sorry man, sounds like a crime of opportunity.

Dang, sorry to hear the news. The car is fairly rare I am assuming now. Hopefully you can get it back somehow.

I support the death penalty for car thieves. :Kill2:

Thanks for the kind words. It is definitely a pretty rare car which does mean it is more noticeable than, say, a stolen accord from the 90's. I'm surprised it was stolen given that it's a stick shift. Makes me worry that it could be a sort of 'joy ride' situation. One of my biggest fears is that it will come back with a toasted clutch, blown trans, zero compression, etc. I don't know how that would even work with insurance. Ugh. I'll post updates if/as I get them.
One really annoying thing is that I just got my first oil analysis back from Blackstone Labs and they said it was wearing better than almost any 8 they had seen :( :( :( |
Sorry to hear that. I'm in Beverly (20 minutes from Boston) I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Best of luck finding it and recovering something. Always painful. |
That's awful! I'm sorry to hear that man. Yeah like you said, it could be a joyride. A friend of mines Mazda 3 was stolen a few years ago in CA. Cops found it the next day beside a small road with the doors open and all 4 tires flat. Turns out, a bunch of kids had taken it for a joyride. Shit happens. Let's hope for the best.
So, what happens when a car is stolen over there? Does the insurance pay you in full? If so, how long do you have to wait to get cash? Do they inform the cops and dispatch search teams? |
Damn bro if I somehow see it I'll fk up whoever stole it for you:icon_tup:
