Dead RX 8??

Ok, so this goes out to anyone that spent money on BHR coils and somehow managed to kill their car afterwards and yet managed to pull out the coils.

I want a set of BHR coils and I need a set of BHR coils. However, I cannot afford a set of BHR coils. I do not need anything but the coils. I have all the rest of what I need. So if you have a set that you would be willing to sell me cheaper or even loved me (or anyone) enough to gift them to me I would be ever so grateful!

OR I am happy to sell you my 2004 rx8. just had all recall work done so all is great on it. Yes, it has needs but it is worth it if you have fewer children than I do or more money.

Okay so you can purchase the coils at any auto parts store. They are D585 coils.

You can search the classifieds as someone may have a used kit for sale.

Yeah, but the D585 are not really the BHR Coils. Now I get that he may start out with the same but as I understand (and I may be incorrect) he makes them much more awesome and spark how and when needed. Not to mention that I have bought a set already and had to use the warranty on them in under 6 months and the coils are misfiring already. I have been in the classifieds and saw nothing. I did go back and ask a few.

Have you tried contacting BHR about it?

To be honest, no. I have not done that. I like my friendship with Charles and I prefer to be able to ask questions and get his opinion. I like to discuss his ideas about living off grid and some other things. For me to not have exhausted all avenues before I asked him, to me, would be rude and create a strain on a friendship that I for one do not wish to create.

Thank for your input, however.

You are incorrect.

The coils used in the BHR kit are D585, nothing modified about them.

The pigtails are just pigtails, nothing special. As for the plug wires I'm not sure what they use. States either MSD or moroso wires on their web page....

I thought you just needed the coils?

I just changed coils plugs and wires. Coils already fouled out in no time. need to do the upgrade and had hopes that my plug wired would work, no clue. I don't see why they wouldn't work. Didn't realize I really needed a wire harness (pigtail) to connect the D585 to the mazda until I found bennettbuilt.com

Found this thread that gives me a bit of hope for myself.

So many thoughts in my head right now.

Yes, they normally state MSD or something like that, but they start talking so many k HOMS and stuff and I know none of that!

The coils don't foul. They fail and their resistance becomes out of spec. If the spark plugs are fouling I would run a compression test to rule out compression that is on the lower side of the spectrum. If you have new coils and wires, perhaps look into new plugs if the plugs are more than a year old. If you had failing or weak coils in place before the upgraded ignition components were installed, the plugs could have been ruined by the weak coils. Just tossing you some options.

Forgive me, I am not a mechanic and sometimes don't say the right things. Guess that's how most know I am clueless about a lot of this. So around April, I replaced Coils, wires, and plugs. Coils went bad. I know this because my car sat at a dealership for almost two months. The coils had a warranty and I had them made up. We put them in and all was good for a few days, coils are bad again. Yes, I need a new CAT and should also replace the sensor that's in the midpipe or something like that.

Yes, the coils I got should be better but they were what I could afford at the time.
