Are starters covered under 48m50k warranty? I believe my star

I suspect my starter my be dead. I noticed a couple of days ago that starting was difficult. As of 3 hours ago my 8 is kaput. I will have it towed in tomorrow. If it is not covered under warranty, anyone have an idea as to what the replacement cost is?

When I turn off the ignition off I get a "click" noise that comes from the engine bay. Is it suppose to do that?

Most likely your battery if the engine doesn't turn over. The OEM battery is notoriously weak and there are a couple of recommeded higher-capacity battery the dealer should be aware of.

It's true my Rx8 died at my company x-mas party...thanks god for AAA...take the car to Sears and have them test the battery before you do anything else.

car might be flooded as well. Yes it's covered.

Why Sears first instead of dealer first? Dealers fix things for free under warrenty (at least, eventually, might need to seek a 2nd or 3rd dealer to get best result) - Sears gives us a bill.

The starter motor costs around $300. I have a spare starter I can sell you.

Thanks all for the input. Got my R(ed)X-8 back from the dealer yesterday. They installed new battery, new starter and new plugs. BTW flooded engine was the problem. Seems that for whatever reason the cold weather this year has had more of an effect on starting up than last year. I am in the ATL area so I feel for you guys in the really colder areas.

Yeah, feel me; it was 9F yesterday morning. ;)
