Squeaky Clutch
Hey guys, my clutch is squeking .. everytime I press down on it ..
Is there any solution ?? I was thinking WD40 |
check the clutch bracket, sqeaking could be the first sign of it breaking.
Search broken clutch pedal; nycgps has a long thread on this and there's pics there of where the clutch pedal can break. |
should that sound be coming from under the car though?
|
My Clutch was squeaking before i took it into Mazda too, i'm pretty sure they are not going to fix it, so i'm keeping an eye on this thread to see if you have any solutions :)

could it be this? my clutch had the same problem after about 2000 miles after i bought it new off the dealership.

Last year, my clutch started to squeak. The squeaks were coming from the clutch pedal. So I took it in to the dealership and explained to them. They told me that it's a common problem for the RX-8's and they would fix it under warranty. So all I had to do was wait for them to get the parts they needed and they fixed it with no charge.
But now it's starting to squeak again but it sounds like it's coming from the front of the car. I'm planning to take the car in and ask them about it. If the sound is coming from the clutch pedal itself, they do fix it for you. I hope that helped. |
Soon after I did my MT conversion, my pedal started to squeak loudly. If you pushed the pedal slowly enough, it would sound like an old door in a haunted house and could be heard from outside the car. It could also be felt slightly in the pedal.
I thought it was the clutch pedal/bracket itself so I spent $175 on the BHR pedal assembly, which made zero difference. Then I thought it must have been the master cylinder, because the noise sounded like it was coming from the pedal still. So I got a new master cylinder for $85, and it made zero difference. Then I was left with possible causes being the slave cylinder, fork, or pressure plate itself. Due to a noisy transmission, I wound up swapping transmissions one night with another spare I had bought. I took this time to toss in an ACT pressure plate and reused the other parts. Since then the squeak has been 100% gone, so I assume the problem was in the pressure plate. |

Mine has only done it twice... each time it would squeak every time I pressed in but the next time I got in my car it stopped (both times it was only a couple hours between). It was easily 3 or 4 months between each time that it did squeak. |

Its weird. It was squeking a lot yesterday. But the whole day today, it didnt squeak at all !! I didnt do anything, I was going to add some grease
|
I will get a squeak for a while after I start the car and put it in neutral (at stop light/sign), but if I push the clutch in it goes away. Once I let the clutch back out the squeak comes back. It will usually go away when the car is fully warmed up.

but you said you swapped the entire transmission, putting the ACT pressure plate in while doing it? So couldn't it have been in any part in the transmission?
Technically, except for the clutch fork and pivot, and clutch assembly, the transmission has nothing to do with the clutch pedal. Oh, and should it be a continuous problem if it is the bracket? isnt there a clutch reinforcement bracket that one of the vendors on here sells?
|
I believe both BHR and mazsport sell them... I havnt found the BHR one yet but havnt spent much time looking... and personally I'd rather find the BHR one.
|
I had a squeak as well, took it in and they told me it was the clutch switch... Dealer replaced it and I haven't heard it since. :)
|
This may be weird but I dont get a squeak...what I get is a click when I depress the pedal about 2-4 inches in. Sometimes Ill slowly depress the pedal to see if it was something else but it would still click. I did look at the bracket and didnt see anything cracked...Im goin to check tom its dark and cold out now. No difference in performance though.
Anyone know what it might be?...Im gonna put some wd40 again. |
