Splash guard behind the Rotor bent!?
I have no idea how it happened, but I started driving and got a few blocks and heard a LOUD SCREECHING noise. I couldn't tell at first what it was....I rev'd up and listened and that wasn't it. The second I moved at all, it made the noise. I guess I'll have to jack the car up and either fix or remove it....
I HAD to drive it home for the next .25 miles cause there was nowhere to stop....but I fixed the guard as good as I could and it wasn't as bad at least...but lets hope for me not having to replace the Rotor soon as it was scratched to hell :( I figure whenever I replace my rotor, go for something fancy like drilled/slotted....might as well, eh? |
The splash/rock gard can be bent back real quick. Thats a ezfix. As for the rotor getting all scratched up thats meh ok in my book. Hell its going to set curved down with the pads anyhow. I would wait till your brakes are shot to replace them or you can just have that one rotor resurfaced if its that bad.
What the hell did you hit? a tree? lol |

What the hell did you hit? a tree? lol Also, if you look at your front guards, are htey already bent? Like, at all? BOTH of my front ones are bent up top/towards the front of the rotor. If they are supposed to look like that, it may have just been a stick that got caught by my tire or something. |
Yes, the top forward portion of the guards are bent inwards. It allows for some air to get circulated through the rotor.
Had a similar problem myself once, it ended up being a small rock lodged in between the shield and the rotor. I just pulled the guard back and the rock fell out. This was about 2 years ago and I haven't had any problems since. |
^What he said :)

No rock, I just bend it outward more, and that solved the issue. I'm getting some rock got magically kicked up and moved the guard in just barely causing the issue. Haven't had a problem since.
I'm glad the guards are bent inward to begin with. I thought some crazy kid decided to jerk me around by bending my guards like that. |
