Sorry this might be a dumb question.

How can I tell if my 8 has the TPMS ??

RIWWP 03-17-2010 07:23 AM

Quick answer: I believe TPMS was standard on all 8s, regardless of year and trim. If you still have the OEM wheels, you should still have the TPMS sensors on them.

Longer answer: If you go out to your car, let a bunch of air out of a tire, drive around the block (carefully, obviously, and make sure you have a pumping method on hand or you drive to a gas station that has one), you should get a 3-beep tone with a warning light on your dash.

In order of convenience...
The TPMS (_) light should light up briefly whenever you fire up the engine.
Let the air out of one of the tyres and the light will light up consistently when the engine's running.
Look inside the tyres for the sensors.

actually, without even having to deflate the tires, if the light isn't constantly flashing when you're driving, they have TPMS. it would be lit all the time if someone had swapped them out (assuming the light is working and comes on when you start the car).

even the sensors go bad... only two ways to know, one is the way CTRX8 said the other is go to a garage and pop the tires off, most ocasion the sensors go bad... just hope thye didn't

good luck

No TPMS on Canadian Models. But we got headlight washers.

even the 16 inch wheels got them. All USA rx8 came standard with TPMS

Bingo!

Spigot is right!

Canadian models = no TPMS.......but head lightwashers!

You guy should read where he posted from. Unless he bought a US model, he's SOL.

I would much rather throw out that annoying TPMS light for some headlight washers, aye.

I don't know.........think I like the TPMS better as it alerts you when you drop under 26lbs of air. Most people don't check their tire pressure as often as they should, so I think it's a good thing...............especially if you are gonna push the car in corners etc. In this case you should be checking it more often of course, but at least you will know if you are starting to reach critical mass before it's too late!
Headlight washers............meh.........I never let my car get that dirty.

laythor 03-18-2010 09:54 AM

dirty headlights.... there's a topless woman joke in there somewhere.
