Ok, So I was painting my calipers on my new 2005 rx-8 as opposed to my old 2004 rx-8. and when I got to the back the inside of the car where the wheel well molding is suppose to go .

Can one of you look to make sure I'm not going crazy.

You know the material in the trunk?

That is what on both sides only in the back of my wheel well. No plastic not like the front.

Did someone screw up or is this how the 2005 are suppose to come?

My 2004 has plastic wheel wells on all 4 tires not just the front.

Plastic on all fours ... build date of 8/03. Not sure when it got changed...???

 

mine are a fiber mat like carpet on the rear....11/03 built

 

Mine is Fibre mat. Build 9/03. Interesting, I did not know any 8s had plastic rear inner fenders.

thought they were all carpeted. 9-03

looks to be same material as the under hood insulation.
