So whats it really worth

I am in a position where I would like to sell my recently aquired 05 GT/MT.

I know the resale is weak, knew that when I bought it.

Lets be real. I want to sell this within the next month.

2005, GT/MT. Gray with the two tone Chapparal leather. 4200 miles. After market Konig 18s (black with a polished lip) with 245 falknes 615s all around.

Whats the real deal. There are 5 2005s here in Phx in the paper all aound 18-19. On ebay, they just arent making reserve anywhere near 20K.

Throw me some realistic values. Where is the market on this car?

Thanks, Mark

no thoughts?

what are 05s getting in resale in your area?

Try Edmunds.com. They can give you a true market value of what you car is selling for in your area.

Other than that the rhetorical but true answer is: it is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. You will be able to sell it for more than you can trade it in for though.

Very few cars sell in December. Sports cars tend to get their peak sales prices in March-April. Last year a typical 350Z, Vette, or RX8 would sell for $2000 more in March the the previous December. More buyers.

That said, what you'll see on eBay is generally at the wholesale end of price. If the cars in your paper are selling at $17-$18K now, then you could probably get $19-$20K in March.

Here in the Dallas area you could probably get $19K from Carmax. Carmax is a good way to sell a car fast.

That's incredible. A 40% loss in value in a year.

I hope you get 25 at least.

I have mine listed at 20K. Got a couple of very unreasonable offers, that's all. One under 16K. And I am in Southern Cali.

also you shoudl put the stock wheels back on and try to sell the aftermarket ones separately. aftermarket anything doesnt really add much to resale value so ur better off parting out. the parts for sale forum is a greast place to get rid of your rims for a fair price.

Thanks all.

good feedback.

I have tried to do as much research as possible, but have found the 8 to be particularly difficult to value.

I think Ebay is one of the best places to generate a real sense of value. As was stated, it is worth what the market is willing to pay. Ebay is truly an open market, albeit followed by bargain hunters, but open market.

I did also check edmunds and KBB, those are completely out of touch with reality.

My guess is the actual market value is somewhere between 18 and 20K and thats assuming you find someone that actually wants to buy one without bending you over.

I will likely have some parts for sale soon that I have never installed. I will offer them here first before they hit ebay..

Thanks again and have a good new year,

Mark

In the Washington DC area, CARMAX is showing 4 2004s starting at $18,998.

Prices have some regional variability - and also, it's a bad time to try and sell a sports car.

Best of luck in the new year...

If you are in a rush to sell, you should bring it to CarMax and get it appraised if there is one in your area. They usually offer at the high end of the wholesale prices. You can check out the wholesale price on intelliprice.com.

You ain't gonna get crap for it now. All the dealers are off loading cars.

17k if your lucky. Your trying to dump at the same time everyone else is dumping on the market.
