cyclone1208 12-18-2009 07:23 AM

REsuperD 12-18-2009 07:44 AM

looks like condensation. happens to me, too. my fd used to do it, too

Thats not smoke. thats what happens when warm air meets cold air.

go outside and exhale. same thing.

Whisper 12-18-2009 08:08 AM

Lol... mine looked like that this morning.. but scale it by 10 times greater. You couldn't even see my car if you were standing behind it. It took a couple seconds, then it died down to normal though

Yup it looks normal to me. When I went to buy my 8 last year it hadn't been started for a few days and it was about 45-55 degrees. I saw lost of moisture coming out and a bit of blue from the oil. Then it cleared up. As long as it isn't thick white/blue/black smoke then its all good ;).

i was inclined to think that it is normal as well. the only thing that concerned me a bit is that the white "smoke" from 8 at cold start up is much more noticeable compared to other cars.

this morning was 11F and when I started the car, the white "smoke" poured out of 8 like the f**king 2012 flood :puke:

zoned 12-18-2009 08:42 AM

well, not just warm air but warm wet air. there must be something about the 8 that keeps moisture in the pipes? hotter exhaust temps maybe have something to do with it?

fuztupnz 12-18-2009 08:46 AM

Absolutely normal. All cars will do it upon cold start on a cold day, rotaries are just more noticeable. You should see it with a HKS Hi-Power.

JinDesu 12-18-2009 08:49 AM

Water (condensation) collects in the cat converter and muffler.

CyberPitz 12-18-2009 11:54 AM

One of the many things that people don't understand about Rotaries is that we have a DRAGON inside of our engines. Yours is just more pissed because it likes warm temperatures.

rodjonathan 12-18-2009 12:00 PM

yes its normal

tza0001 12-18-2009 12:08 PM

Normal, more noticeable at cold temp

lol ... yeah man i live in seattle and last weeks we were around 19 degrees icy and the smoke was just like that ... no worries

otakurx 12-18-2009 01:47 PM

mine did that, but filled the whole street but that was because I ended up with some water in my tank.
