Smart key not functioning
Red "KEY" light on dash is lit. Smart key not working. New battery installed, still no luck. Also, this winter when the traction control kicked in, the radio would shut off and restart. Simple fix or symptoms of a larger electrical system issue?

It's still smart, it just hasn't had its coffee yet.
Seriously though, I think the only thing you can do is go to the dealer. If they try to sell you a new key for more than ~$75, tell them you may have another one already but it's not programmed. Don't buy their key though until you shop around, I think you can get them on ebay for $70 |
Take the key to the dealer, I had the same problem and they said I had a broken antenna on the car, it's covered by warranty so they fixed it for free. As for the radio, I have no idea
Good Luck!! (I'm not sure how dealers are at your area, but mine told me to wait 3-4 days for the parts to come and I waited for a few weeks, had to call in to ask and then they told me that they were in a long time ago, just that they never called me back. so always call the dealers to ask for an update I guess.) |
I know this might be an obvious question but is the battery dying in the remote? According to the little info pamplet that comes with the keys, it says the battery only lasts around 1 year for these keys.

he did say he replaced the battery, i'm wondering if the battery is in backwards.

:piss:
stupid key. |
It sounds like a battery problem I had a similar issue.
