S'long traded my 09' for a Miata MX5
Well, I decided to finally trade my 09 GT, MT, with 40K miles for a 2010 Miata MX-5 GT, 6 speed, MT with Power hard retracting top and 18K.
Loved the RX8 and had great fun driving it but I found myself mostly in city traffic, hardly ever using the back seats. I think it is a lot better car, more power and such but it is a different car. My new car is way more snug, feels like I am wearing it around my 6'4" frame, and in city streets, it's handling is even better than the RX8, feels as close to a motor cycle as any car. The first tank in city driving gave 22.3 mpg, about 9+ miles more than the 13 in city traffic of the Rx8. I think they fooled around with the sound of the Miata GT because it is wonderful. I turned off the stereo because I was enjoying the sounds of the engine as I went up and down the gears. I made an even trade, actually paid $3000 on top of my car, but for now its worth it and the retracting hard top is awesome cool. You guys are great and I will still lurk around once in a while on this forum. Merry Christmas!!! |
enjoy that car Zahir and Merry Christmas. Miata's are cool.

MX-5s are nice. Hope you enjoy your new ride. |
I think he was saying that they gave him $3k on top of the Miata for his RX-8.
Or, at least, I hope that's the deal he got, anyway. BC. |
You bought a gift to yourself...Merry Christmas, enjoy the Miata.

Nope. I paid $3000 plus my RX8GT. The kbb prices for the two car shows that the 2009 RX8 with 40k in very good on diction has less value than a 2010 mistake GT with the retractable hard top and 18k.

Love Miatas, had one. But IMO the handling is less stable at speed, more flex and even more roll.
As for sound - I'm a bit of an afficionado, here are my fav. sounding engines ... 1. the intake-tubine-like sound of the rotary 2. a well tuned V8 (love my hemi) 3. big twin harley (stock pipes) 4. inline 6 N/A BMW 5. V4 1000cc sportbike engine 6. large displacement thumper engine (single cyl. with aftermarket exhaust) 7. flat twin BMW (also with aftermarket exhaust) 8. inline 1000 sportbike engine |
