Should I Trade?

I just got my RX8 but I'm trying to make a wise decision. I start college next Fall and am looking at selling my car to pay for most of it. Someone contacted me on Craigslist offering to trade a 2005 Kawasaki ZX6R with 6k and a 1983 Chaparral 187xlc. Would I be able to sell the two individually and get more money? I have a 2005 with 76k. I've tried researching but have NO idea how to find the value of a motorcycle or a boat! :(

Sell motorcycle and boat just in time for winter? Makes no sense.

Digger1911 10-28-2012 04:00 PM

That does not seem wise to me. The buyers pool although small for your RX8 is still larger than a bike and a boat in winter.
Now if he wants to bring some cash in the deal, that might change things. Bike, boat and 3k cash?

Boat maybe worth 2K.,

Bike worth 3k., maybe.

that trade would be a bad move.

Stay with the car.

As others mentioned, just do whatever you think is a good deal...good luck.

An '83 Chaparral is worth nothing. Why? Because I can guarantee it needs more work than it's worth. He should toss in an extra grand for you taking it off his hands.

Bad trade.

The two best days of a boat owner's life are the day he buys the boat and the day he sells it.

Not true, I was unhappy the day I sold my boat (36' Trojan Tri-Cabin). I wish I still had it.

Here is a search I did on Chaparral boats for sale on this site.

If it has tits, wheels or floats, sometimes it is better to rent than to own.

Unless you specifically stated that you wanted to trade your car for a motorcycle and a boat in your craigslist ad, you should ignore the trade offer.

How much did you value your car at in the ad?

Here's the link to Nada for the ZX6R.

2005 Kawasaki ZX636C1 NINJA ZX-6R - 636cc Standard Equipment, 2005 Kawasaki ZX636C1 NINJA ZX-6R - 636cc Price & Specs | NADAguides

And honestly, its so easy to wind up trading for a pair of stolen vehicles, or a bike that was previously totaled, it really isn't worth even giving this person anymore of your time.

Good luck paying for most of your college by selling a 7 year old rx8 lol. Anywho, I agree with everyone else that this deal isn't a good one.
