Should I be mad

Had a rebuild done a little over a year ago. Used new housings, apex seals, new koyo rad, a clutch, master cylinder, engine mount and couple other things. Anyways I’ve had a few complaints. My powersteering has gone in and out ever since. I have cleaned and reconnected a couple times the last time seems to have worked. Although now my water pump is leaking. A few weeks before I noticed the heat wouldn’t work so the thermostat was probably bad. The rad was also put in with minimum effort. Missing one rubber bushing for the bottom peg. Missing the air dam on the sides to. I’ve only put maybe 3k miles on it. Should I make a call or is it just what it is. I told them to let me know of any issues that might need addressed during the rebuild that might cause problems down the road. The total rebuild was over 5 grand not including the clutch and radiator I purchased my self.

forgot to add I had to chang coil packs and plugs about a week or two after getting it becuase I started getting hesitation over 5600

The coils and plugs story sounds normal. Probably should have been done before the rebuild.

Missing parts like rubbers and covers sounds like someone didn't give any f*cks, so yeah I'd be mad... a year ago. Not now.

Not sure what call you're talking about making, but given that it has been a year, I think you might have to just fix the problems. Water pump and splashguards are easy. Power steering will need more attention, potentially replacement, but it's still not terrible.

Who did the rebuild?

5k, holy crap.

The steering has nothing to do with them and neither do the reused items that should have been new but you agreed to that work without doing stuff like a new tstat (probably has nothing to do with your heat issue anyway) and new plugs and coils.

They charged you $427.50 to install a clutch they were going to have to install anyway? And, it took them 4.5 hours? I haven't done the clutch on my RX-8 yet, but when I did that work on my Miata, it took me ~1 hour to replace the rear main seal, flywheel, disc, pressure plate, and release bearing. Wow.

As for the other stuff...

The coils, plugs, and wires should have been replaced as part of the rebuild (with no additional labor charge). You should have purchased them along with your other parts. Same with the thermostat.

The other stuff definitely sounds like carelessness, but it has been a year. You can call and be nice and see if you get any offers of help, but I would not expect it.

Yeah Mazda tried to charge me to install a new clutch with my second reman. It was fun watching the service adviser explain to me the justification for the charges before I told that douche bag that they would have had to remove the clutch from the old engine and reinstall it anyway.

Sounds like to me he's guaranteeing everything bolted to the engine.

Good luck with that.
