What they are trying to say is that the engine really does much better when it gets into the upper RPM ranges on a regular basis. Once a day is not bad. This blows out carbon that has a tendency to collect if all you do is putt putt around.
With an auto, that mean you have to make sure it does not shift until it gets there. Easier with a manual, just hold a shift. Oh. Can the paddle shifters be used to keep the RPM high? |

Honestly, do not get an auto. A lot of people buy this car and can't get over how slow it is from 0-60 and the lack of torque and the auto is 100% worse. The tranny can't spin to 9,200 RPMs. That being said- this is not a drag car and I don't expect it to have good straight line speeds. So maybe it won't bother you.

I have to say I agree with the manual theory... this car with an automatic is like a gun loaded with blanks instead of bullets.... still looks and sounds right but its just not the same.....
go have a friend teach you how to drive stick and take one out for a drive.... I drove no fewer than 20 of these things before I made a decision... R3 manual was my favorite, but the numbers were not happeneing... ended up with a close runner up (06 GT manual) absolutely love it.... eventually will upgrade the suspension and a few other goodies but the same car in an auto just did not have the same soul... |

The 06 is fine but I would avoid a auto for two reasons. One the manual is a far better fit for this car and I have heard too many people say they should have bought the Manuel after buying the Auto. It really would be worth the effort to learn a manual to really enjoy this car.
The second reason is one of reliability. The autos only have one oil cooler and appear to have a higher engine failure rate because of this. I can't remember if later autos went to twin coolers but I think they did. |
