should i buy???

im about to buy it tommorrow... looks like a great deal

04 base model manuel tranny.... 1 owner (nice area suburbs) clean carfax a a dealersitting alone for 2 weeks oh yea it has 19k on the speedo!

selling for 11,500 in NY

UPDATE....
i Opted out of the deal for now. it was 11900 and they would not budge at all plus taxes ... to much for a mom n pops dealer.

Im currently looking at a 04 sport model manuel with 80k for $7k. Hes an enthuesest and babied the car (runs great n very clean). car fax is clean and theres a local tuner shop that is going to check the compression out and other things before sale.
the car has a racingbeat race exhaust, gutted cat, k&n intake, cobb unit, and front/rear strut bars. He also has a catch can installed because he was going to boost but is selling because hes moving upstate NY. If everything checks out at the mechanic then its a go :)

UPDATE #2
O4 sport manuel WITH 80K WAS PURCHASED FOR 6700. COMPRESSION WAS PERFECT AND HAS A CLEAN TITLE. IM AN OFFICIAL OWNER OF A RX8 :)

What are the compression scores?

EricB 02-17-2013 08:49 PM

nice low milage for an 04,

i believe AllRotor(rx7 club username) is in NC and can have a compression test performed. He is a huge rx7 reseller / engine rebuilder.

or you can take it to a dealership.

what should they be? theres a mazda dealer not far that can perform the test

Have you read through my new and potential owner's thread? It's got all the basics, and I think post 6 or post #8 has the compression test details.

If you don't know the scores, then my vote will always be "don't buy".

i still havnt checked my compression :yelrotflm

then again i do have a warranty for another 3 years

back on topic, check the compression, you dont want to get a low compression motor and have to spend the dough yourself to rebuild it as soon as you buy it.

If everything checks out good...then go ahead and buy it. Update us on anything about it, and post pics when you have it in hand, good luck!

xexok 02-22-2013 04:45 PM

What were the compression numbers for the car you bought? Just curious since you said it had 80k on the engine with perfect compression.

he said 100 ... its a known performance shop that mostly deals with evos. Not a typical mom n pops place. I hope he was correct but so far everything is good

the1jesster 02-23-2013 04:10 PM

^^
yes because a EVO is so in line with a rotary lol

Lvis 02-23-2013 08:42 PM

/\
no need for the sarcasm. If there was a rotory shop available i would have went there.

GK1707 02-23-2013 09:44 PM

Best place for a compression test would be the dealership. Where in NY did you buy it?

Are-Ex-Eight 02-23-2013 11:09 PM

Well grats on the purchase. Not sure why there is so much hate going on here.
