In the shop....ugh!

Had to take my 8 in to get a new taillight. The right rear one was loaded with water. They took 2 weeks to get it, and while I was waiting for them to get it in. The a/c stopped working. So I had them look at that.

They said the compressor was bad, and ordered one. They said it should be done tommorow. We, shall, see. 17,000+ miles and the compressor goes?

In the meantime they give me a damn Mazda 3 as a loaner...Its a very easy car to drive, but compared to the 8. I think they should have at least given me a 6.

2 weeks for a taillight?!?!?! mine was done the same day, and i bet alot of other members were as well. well while the car is there have them do the newest TSB on the front brakes.

New Yorker 06-05-2006 08:59 PM

Chill. At least your car isn't in the shop awaiting a few thousand dollars of bodywork. THAT would be really bad.

Tell me about it. I get my car back tomorrow after about 3 weeks. I'm sure the shop is tired of me calling and would probably key my car if they didn't have to fix it again. :mdrmed:

i told my dealer that my rear tail light made a slight rattle sound, and they replaced it in under 10 mins.

two weeks is insane - did they have it shipped via snail?

juikster 06-05-2006 11:23 PM

Mazda 3 isn't all that bad....but tailight ordered from Japan via the Bering sea, around the N.straits of Canada(if your lucky)down the Atlantic (avoiding icebergs)to the ports of the East coast, shipped ground freight,(If your luck is still with you)across our great land to your dealers front steps and onto your RX8. :)
the trip was worth it.... :icon_tup:

Raptor2k 06-06-2006 12:11 AM

nvm

xrider01 06-06-2006 12:14 AM

lol.....you're complaining about 2 weeks? when i got water in my tail lamp, it took over a month to put on! lol

but then again, it didn't help that i procrastinated two weeks after it had come in

JMS'SRX8 06-06-2006 04:56 PM

Two weeks for a taillight is ridiculous! But they are working on the AC compressor now. Gonna need at least another day for that, he said....

I dont have a prob with the 3...But come on I give them there top of the line car and get a bottom of the line 3??? Like I said I think they should have at least given me a 6.

Is this water in the taillight thing a big problem? Is it always the right one?

missinmahseven 06-06-2006 05:27 PM

Dude.. be grateful for the 3.

My oh-so-wunderbar-and-skilled(not) dealer put me in an Aveo. And didn't fix the rattle I drove it in for.

An Aveo. Oh I tore 'em up for that one, and for not fixing my rattle (and multiple other crudities and screwups) I won't go back to 'em.

I wonder what's next.. a tin lizzie?!

I woulda taken a 3 and ran with it.

:D:

2 weeks IS crazy. Granted, for me the dealer had one on hand, but they should have warehouses somewhere in the US that could get it there in a couple days.

it was my right tail light also.

spinkix 06-06-2006 07:50 PM

On the way home from the dealer I noticed a 5th gear synchro grind. Dropped it off at the 1st available appt. At 27K needs tranny work, new synchros, new clutch, and yes both tail light lenses. It is going on three weeks- some housing back-ordered. I had the car for two days, and just made my 1st payment today. Hope she's ready for track June 28th. Between Porsches, Spinkix

JMS'SRX8 06-12-2006 08:29 PM

Yeah, spinkix...I have a feeling my tranny may need some work too. After this fiasco with just a taillight and ac compressor I know Tranny work is gonna be a nightmare with these idiots.

If it wasnt for the incredibly geourgeous girl at Pearson Mazda in Richmond that works the cashiers cage. I would take it somewhere else!! :)

why r u complaining at all! id be in there every day askin her if my car is done! btw, ac compressor R&R is like 20 minutes and tailight R&R is even less. and yes, there are supply warehouses in the US for mazda parts. one in canada too

zoom44 06-13-2006 04:46 PM

went for the right tailight yesterday(only took 3 days for the light to come), but it was a lefty in a right marked box:(. oh well, they'll check the next before they call me.

alfy28 06-13-2006 04:55 PM

Man sorry about your problems. as for the rear light switch out. they did it that day.

one thing i hated about the dealer ship that is in my city is, they forgot to close the trunk all the way. so when you use your alarm to lock the door the blinkers wouldnt flash to let me know if its locking or unlocking. so i figured they must of didnt wire something or a wire in the back was not connecting which was reason why its not bliniking. so i go to back and notice my trunk was not closed.

i was about to call them and yell at them for fing up my car. when the problem was so simple :hahano: . any how sorry about your car problems. hope things get done fast for yah.

spinkix 06-13-2006 06:48 PM

After three weeks and two days I'm promised my car tomorrow. Rebuilt tranny, new synchros, and tailight lenses(under Mazda warranty). New clutch(paid for by Honda dealer I got her from) I'm stoked to take her thru the paces. Anyone out there auto-cross or track at D.E. events? Suspension mods? Thanks Guys
