Shinka

I am considering looking for a Shinka here in FL. Pros/cons. What do you consider to be the best 8, year, model, etc. By the way my 79 rx-7 ran 200 thousand before engine replacement.

Thanks in advance

I would consider a later model 06 or 07 where they have most of the bugs worked out. The earlier models have had quite a few tech service bulletins for various issues. Although, if you can find an 04 or 05 that has all of the service records for a good price, then more power to you.

What did you do as in maintenance/gas used/premix?/synthetic oil?/redline/

Anyhow I would get an 06 and up which have most of the bugs worked out. I would consider my Copper Red Shinka (only 375 in this color) to be the best but then again I am biased.

Copper Red was exclusive to the Shinka trim.

Well, here is a regular Cooper Red RX-8 with a MS kit. There is no Shinka trims such as Shinka headlights, tail lights, wheels, b pillar, etc.

RE-ARMINIYA is right! That's the bottom line, don't feel bad now since you found out the Shinka's aren't that special after all. J/K!

I believe that the Shinka is a US only edition, and that pic that you posted is from Japan. Technically you are right, but in the US all Copper Reds are Shinkas.

In Japan it is known as the Prestige Limited II (hence no shinka badge on the B-pillar) but it is still the same car as the Shinka and the Copper Red color is exclusive to that style of car. The whole car looks just like mine minus the MS kit, Sticker on the B-pillar and the clear corners. It still has the Alcantara seats and the lights and wheels are the same. Obviously the clear corners and MS kit are custom.

Here is some reading material for you:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_R...eed_M.27z_Tune

"Mazda introduced a special Shinka edition to the U.S. market in 2005, and to the UK market in 2006 where it was branded as the Evolve. Unique features include Shinka badges on the B-pillars, re-styled mirrors, alcantara-trimmed leather seats on the 2006 MY, stiffer chassis and suspension tuning, and polished wheels. For the 2005 MY, the Shinka was only available in Black Cherry Mica, and in 2006, it was available in Pearlescent White as well as some of the standard model colors. Power output remains unchanged from the standard models. This model is also offered in Japan as the Sports Prestige Limited RX-8."

The Copper Red being exclusive the Shinka/Prestige Limited II is also referenced here in Rotary News:

http://rotarynews.com/node/view/702

"Copper Red Mica is the new, exclusive body color for this model."

You were correct the first time around all Copper Reds ARE Shinka's.

Yep, that's a Japanese car.
All copper ( or is it copper? ROFLMAF) red 8s in USA..where we are located..are Shinkas.
Who cares whats outside USA, We can't buy them that easy. Transportation fees and import fees would kill us.

Not in America, USA.
That pic you posted is a Japanese car.
As AJ posted, read the links and learn,
The Poster would normally not be able to buy any copper red that is not a Shinka, ie not in USA.

Yes, there might be a copper red 8 that is not a Shinka, but not in the USA, so poster would not be able to purchase it.
