Shifter Console Removal

I'm currently trying to remove the shifter console cover... How do I release the "fragile tab"? The thing will not budge/move. I am positive I'm grabbing the right one, as shown in Gomez's DIY: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=53914.html
I can release all the other tabs except for this one--how do I get the cover off w/o breaking the tab?

Please help!

Sadly enough, my tab was broken when I bought the car. I didn't notice until one day when I was playing around with the e-brake cover. If you DO break the tab, it's no big deal. No rattles, gaps, etc. It's pretty solid without the help of that tab.

Well, something is there holding it firm. The console cover will move so it is not glued down. I just can't figure out the tab. Has anyone else had a "fragile tab" that didn't seem to want to release? :(

Well, that tab is a little piece of shit. Needless to say, I broke it (not happy). Can someone please inform me of how to remove the whole cupholder assembly so that I may fish out the broken plastic pieces? (I tried the cup insulation DIY site, but it is down)

see here:

you have to remove the whole center console, using the pic and the instructions you can't go wrong.
