Series II Rust
Didn't find a thread on this, so I figured I'd post.
Rust issues on the Series I, mostly at the rear center brake light and in the rear wheel wells are well documented. But I'm curious as to how the Series II vehicles are faring. I saw elsewhere Mazda made some changes to the Mazda 3 in 2009 to combat rust issues, and I'm curious if they did something similar with the RX-8 with all the changes for the Series II. Anyone have any information? |
Only rust you will find on my car is actually on the brake calipers. Starting to turn green a bit near the center. Mind you that I am anal about keeping my car clean and detail it at least once a month lol

I dont drive my car when its snowy or raining out anyways.
the center of my muffler where the pipe from the engine is blowing at gets pretty hot and there is some discoloration/rust to it. other than that not so much. |

These are all good indicators. Anyone else?

I'm going thru my 3rd winter, 50 000 miles (86000 kms) and no sign of rust. I take great care of it in the summer, compound in spring and wax 4-5 times through the summer. I was it regularly in the winter times as well and its sleeps in the garage most of the time.
I say so far so good |
i envy you guys, my cars been to the body shop for rust bubbles twice in the last 6 months. dont even get me started on suspension components.

I notice some rust building up along the bottom of driver & passenger doors where the drain is, went back to MAZDA and complaint, waiting to hear back. Dealer I went to said possiblility they will repair...
