Selling a car with aftermarket mods?
I am selling my RX-8 because I am leaving out the country next month.
I currently have a RB exhaust and Tein springs. Is it okay to sell it w/ mods? I know a RB exhaust is street-legal, but I am not sure about springs. I have about 2 weeks to decide, but want to know how to get the reasonable price from dealers. Going back to stock? or leave those? I think it would be good if I pretend that I am not a boy racer or whatsoever. I plan to visit Mazda dealers, Carmax and other ones. Any tips? Thanks. |
you aren't going to get anything for the springs and exhaust. change it back to stock and sell it separately.

It would be best to sell the mods seperately, assuming you have enough time.
Hmm #8 on Quite Frankly brb |
the mods are likely to lower the value of the car when you sell it. I would restore it stock and sell the mods seperate.

Leave the springs on since they're a pita to take off and put your stock exhaust back on. There's nothing wrong with selling a car with mods but you're not going to get more for the car with them on so you might as well make a little cash from the exhaust. They are also such harmless mods that I wouldn't worry about it much. It's not like they make the car faster or indicate track use.

I want to remove those and sell seperately, but just taking off springs would cost me at least $100 and I am not a DIY guy. :(
I gotta paint tein springs black and say those are stock. |
The mods you have on aren't anything significant to really lower the value much, if at all. I can see the value dipping if you said you had all types of bolt ons, or forced induction.

No one is even going to notice the springs.
You are going to get nothing for the car. You are trying to sell it to the dealer with out a trade, U gonna loose big time. |
only way to make some money back or recover some cost back is to take your time and part out and sell your car. Car w/mods = Stock Car $.
|
Include your stock springs to the dealer/buyer....
Sell your exhaust |
