Security/Engine not starting

I have read many of the posts from here and still wander about this problem:
At times, and this varies WIDELY, my engine will simply not start, not even turn over. As an example, the other day I took my daughter back to college. A beautiful fall day here in the northeast so I took my 04/6 spd out for a ride. 53 miles, so the car got plenty hot. We arrived and went on a tour of the new apartments she is considering. Upon coming back out I went to start the car and NOTHING....All I got was th flashing security light. Now this has happened in the past along with it stalling out while driving. The very first time I took it into the dealer was told that there was an "open circuit" found and fixed. That seemed to solve the problem and I had driven this not even thinking about it this whole year...untill the other day when it happened again.

This time was a little different though as after getting just the security light and no ther lights... I kept on turning the key....while hearing some promising "clicks" and finally getting some other dash lights on....and it finally did start. I drove it the whole way home with no problems and it has been "normal" since. Again I took it in to the dealer and was told that nothing was found to be abnormal from the starting celenoid to the starter.

I don't know what the circumstances are with "flooding" but it seems that I get NOTHING when I turned the key except for the security light still flashing - NO other lights appeared.

I know there is a chip in the key and am wandering if that is going bad - is the simple solution to use my other key?

ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated as I travel a lot and want to make sure that when I turn the key over the car starts.....

THANKS...!!!!!

try cleaning your key. may be some dirt stuck in there. ignitions are quite sensitive these days. if it still does it, use your other key. that way you can start ruling out things

It could be that your battery in that key is getting weak/low...............not real sure as it's never happenned to me.

Go ahead and check your main battery terminals under your hood as well. Make sure they are clean and tight.
