Come on people! Dumb? Stupid? That was not nice. Ignorance is bliss and those who didn't know about this compartment are blessedly bliss. :D

Well, I'm not afraid to admit that I've got almost 7,000 miles on the car, just went outside to test this, and was entirely surprised to find that extra storage. Very cool!

Make sure you see the rear centre verticial plastics bit --- search the inside for rubbish -- do you know they are designed to keep ruubish, rather people have drill 9" holes and put extra subs in them :p

LOL You know this is all in fun, don't you all? After all, Ignorance is not a bad word nor label. We are ALL ignorant of something or another, not one of us know it all. No one is stupid or dumb here, after all, you bought the RX-8, how could you consider yourself stupid? IF you are stupid for doing so, then we are all stupid. Guess what? We aren't stupid. :D

I'll let you in on another secret... if you open the front doors, there are a pair of doors in the back as well but they open the opposite direction than most cars...

But don't tell ANYONE ELSE... it's a secret compartment to hold extra PEOPLE!!!

You people are being way too harsh on me. There are many people out there that did not know about it. And the comment about the missing horespower in the "secret compartment" i'd love to find the compartment with that.....hopefully some1 will post that compartment....unless they're too threatened by the jerks on the site

top-se·cret

adjective

highly secret: requiring complete secrecy or containing information that must be kept completely secret, especially because its disclosure would pose the gravest danger to national security

haha, maybe.. sorry man.. but you *sorta* asked for it... "Am I dumb or"???

anyway, maybe you should think about your posts more before you submit them, I mean most people don't have much respect for openly 'dumb' people. I certainly don't.

I have not posted yet. And I'll try not to be a smart as* but you should always read the owners manual 1st. Don't mean to sound like a parent but you did invest in a 30 thousand dollar vehicle.

This isn't a 50 dollar stereo...........RENE

I don't blame you for not spotting this "secret compartment" beforehand. Your sales rep at the dealership should have shown you this. I bet he just gave you the keys and prepared the papers without explaining anything about your ride. Maybe you looked like a "sure buyer" at that dealership.

Just a heads up too, in case your sales rep didn't tell you, you have 8 airbags! Don't be opening panels where they are placed in case you're experimenting with your interior. We dont want to read your post that says "Damn it! A secret airbag blew up on my face! Stupid Mazda!"

jk with ya pal :D

When you post a question like that your asking for it, so first think before a post, no hard feelings but this is normal on all forums, you get flamed for such things.

.....Dont take it personaly..........

I was shown the center console compartment on my test drive. But after 4 months I just found the little compartment above my left knee a couple of weeks ago....

I wrapped my extra bottle of oil in a shop towel and it fits in there perfect. Doesn't slam around in the trunk, knocking the lid loose and spoiling the carpet. Also always have a rag to wipe the hands after you add the required oil.
