Seatbelt Stuck

I am having problems with my drivers seatbelt sticking. It was just stuck for about 3 days, and it finally unlatched. It was a pain in the ass having to climb in under it. It has done this before. I have tried spraying electrical contact cleaner in there to see if this fixes it, but it didn't help.

I also have an airbag light that comes on every once in a while. I took it to the dealership once before, and they fixed it - for about 2 months.

I have done nothing to troubleshoot this myself except spray the seatbelt. I will try disconnecting the sensors under the seats to see if the airbag light goes out.

My question is, are the airbags and seatbelts connected in any way? Can I just go out and buy a new seatbelt receptor and put it in? Is there any way that a faulty seatbelt will cause an airbag light?

Thx

I actually did search. The only thing I found was getting the front seatbelt stuck into the backseats (and a bunch of accident threads saying "they should have worn their seatbelts). Search is where I got the idea to unplug the sensors under the seats to try to clear the airbag light. Did I miss something?

I would not think that the seatbelt would cause the airbag light to go off. Cant recall off hand but I think there is a separate red seat belt dash light, but even then I think its just a open/closed switch for a "put your seatbelt on" light.

probably just a messed up sit belt ...go to mazda and ask them to replace them due to safety requirements ....sue them if they charge u for it ~ lol

My passenger side seat belt got stuck shortly after I got my car. I took it to the dealership they kept my car over night and had it fixed the next day. I was not charged because it was a safety issue. I believe the airbag light is also an indicator for all of the elements in the safety restraint system, so that should go away when you get your seat belt replaced or fixed. You should not be charged for this kind of repair.

I would question why its so sticky to begin with. Most of the hookers I know bring tissues to clean up the mess afterwards.
