So I'm very sad to say that I have totaled my rx8 :( Cruising around with some guys and lost control around a bend a flipped my car end to end a couple of times at about 45mph but landed right side up thankfully...Seat belt saved my life and walked away with 2 bruised fingers and some seat belt burns on my shoulder and a little bit of my back and my head scratched...I'm very very lucky to still be here...Here are some pics at the towing place I dont have any pics at that sight of the crash but it happened yesterday evening

well I was a bit behind him and to his credit, it was a very poorly designed turn it was at the top of a hill and a flat turn not the first accident at that bend according to the police officer... the back end got loose (possibly on some loose gravel) and slid him into a ditch that was at the start of an embankment which i'm sure caused the car to rotate over, I'm glad hes OK it was a scary thing to watch

RyansRx8 03-25-2010 12:10 AM

Exhaust is the only thing that looked to be in good shape so maybe parting that out but im not certain...I have a lotek gauge pod that i never got around to putting on and g35 wheels but those wheels will only be local...but I'll put that up when i get around too it

RxMadness 03-25-2010 12:13 AM

that'll buff right out

maskedferret 03-25-2010 12:38 AM

Alas I have never had a chance to meet up with you guys. Sorry to hear about this, but glad you're okay.

JGR4444 03-25-2010 12:41 AM

you flipped because you went into a ditch right? cant imagine that you would have flipped just from a a sharp turn... sorry about your 8 though man thats real unfortunate

mbentley 03-25-2010 07:19 AM

wow. that's crazy! the car looks pretty beat up but the basic frame seems to be pretty well intact which is what i would credit you being able to walk away from this relatively unscathed.

you guys are a bunch of vultures :p

kwikslvr 03-25-2010 07:46 AM

Thank the engineers of the RX8 who did such an amazing job for your well being. notice how the roof is almost perfect? thats because of the way the roof was constructed, its really strong, and also really light.

here is the info on the roof.

The roof on the RX-8 has structural members that are constructed of nitride treated steel.
Nitriding fuses titanium to the steel with nitrogen through heat. This produces a very strong, yet lighter weight (2.2 lbs less than ordinary steel) roof and contributes to better handling.

sorry about your ride, but glad you are ok man.

ZumnRx8 03-25-2010 07:48 AM

^:scratchhe.....:bigok:

RIWWP 03-25-2010 08:23 AM

Yeah, it shows how strong the 8 is. Doing it's job to protect us, even from ourselves or loose gravel on the road.

Glad to hear you are ok.

Getting another 8?

mbentley 03-25-2010 08:30 AM

if you even have a slight want to buy another 8, you should just go ahead and get it. i tried to go with something else after my first but i came back 6 months later :)

2tone 03-25-2010 08:42 AM

yikes, that gives me the heebie -jebbies (huh?) just looking at that.

HAD to involve a ditch/change of ground level b/c our cars, from what i understand, are VERY hard to flip. especially as the op states, going under 50. glad you're ok, that's scary.

just curious, i guess all side/curtain airbags went off? what was that like? i mean, could you feel them? did you hit the door frame with your head or anything? anything like that? neve been in or known someone that rolled (knock on wood!). yikes...

RX8YA 03-25-2010 08:42 AM

Wow thats crazy 45mph..............geez i would have gotten out of the car and kissed the ground.
