and this thread has officially reached the point of no return.

Not so sure how accurate that site is...I get a solid 30mpg in my S2000 every time I fill it, around 26-27 if I use the A/C. That's mostly highway due to my daily commute, but far more than the 20mpg that site claims.

I'd take their numbers with a grain of salt.

DaGnome 07-24-2007 09:04 PM

I've been tracking EVERY fill up since I got my '05... I've gotten 17.9 mgp exactly, and i drive about 45 miles each day in Miami traffic :) High has been about 25 mpg once, and as low as 14mpg.

So I'd say that site is right on :)

fobjr101 07-24-2007 11:25 PM

Least now I know I'm not getting low mpg for this car compared to others.

Altair 8 07-25-2007 12:47 PM

might as well use up all the natural resources while we can and still have fun :)

Hepcat1920 07-26-2007 04:45 PM

Mpg

I get between just shy of 18mpg to just shy of 20mpg depending on weather, traffic, driving style for that tank of gas. Which is right where the window sticker stated.
It is also about 2mpg more than I used to get in my '88 RX-7, so I guess I am happy because it is an improvement from my old car!

rotary magic 10-25-2011 08:30 PM

I now avg 20mpg. Got 22mpg last week driving from Ga to Tx. Noticed an improvement after changing to 10w40. 105,000 on the odometer.

Holy thread bump!

FungsterRacing 11-05-2011 12:47 PM

No doubt for thread bump! Lol. But to add in, I get better mileage in city when in 2nd gear than I do in any other gear :)

bryan4140 11-05-2011 05:42 PM

driveing from PA to WI i averaged 23mpg at about 75mph. daily basis i commute 25 miles each way, driveing 70% hwy 30% city and average 19.5mpg. i drive pretty average with a couple spirited on ramp excels redlineing 1st and 2nd(usualy once some times twice a day(cant resits)).

77mjd 11-08-2011 06:03 PM

I think Mazda already knows that a legit 28-30mpg hwy will be necessary for the next rotary car...otherwise it won't sell or stay in the range of the tree hugger rules for it's entire production run.

WhiteDealershipRice 11-08-2011 06:48 PM

Zombie thread averages 16.5 MPG (I calculate it on evry fill-up)

santarosarx8 05-12-2012 12:32 AM

I got 24 mpg once on flat highway, starting with a warm engine driving from gas station to gas station. Otherwise, 19 mpg. Once in a while, I drive that back road at 4 to 6K rpm. Doesn't hurt mileage a bit. I think that it is designed to be ok at the higher rpms, and fair everwhere else.

I got a V8 cadillac for the mileage, it gets about 21 mpg.

pistonhater 05-13-2012 07:12 AM

yeah...yeah...somebody always seems to get the most MPG, the best price on a car, the smartest son/daughter in school, the cheapest car insurance, the lowest interest car loan, etc.

but nobody would be willing to admit the truth:(

I'll admit it.

Lyndon B Johnson is the one who assassinated John F Kennedy.

There, now I feel so much better.

Wait, that's not what you were looking for?
Damnit.

Mod, please delete.

BC.

While rather a beaten to death topic in a 5 year old resurrected thread, there isn't much of a direct reason to delete it.

That being said:
Anyone else replying, take a look at the thread date. If you want to contribute your personal mileage experience feel free.

However, note that no one will really care, since you only have 3 possibilities:
1) Your mileage is too good and no one will believe you
2) Your mileage is normal and no one will bother commenting
3) Your mileage is terrible and people will tell you to get your car fixed (coils, plugs, wires, O2 sensors, compression, MAF, air filter, etc...)

So please, just let the thread fade.
