RX8 Service Question

Hey guys,

Bought my first RX8 a few weeks ago! The car had been sat for around a year, and hasn't got much of a service history - but the engine's fairly sound, and had a successful compression test done 2 months ago...

I've literally just replaced the air filter, that was seriously clogged up with oil, and I'm just waiting on my new plugs and oil filter to arrive so I can change the oil and replace the plugs.

My question is: I have a rattle coming from my cat [and the car smells quite rich at idle], but I also know my coils are literally the same coils that it came with when the car was new - so what's more important that I replace first, the coils or the cat?

I'm not too worried about the car smelling rich, as my average MPG around town seems to be in the low 20's.

Cheers in advance!

Don't replace the CAT without new coils unless you want the new one to fail early. Dead coils leads to more crap for the CAT to burn off. Check to see if the CAT is in pieces inside...easiest way is to remove the midpipe and see what comes out :)

+1.

Coils, wires and plugs first, then the convertor.
