RX8 Production Dates and Problems

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum. Just bought an RX8, and will be picking up this weekend. It's going to be an '04 model. I know that there were problems with the earlier productions of RX8. My question is: How early is early? Is the ECU firmware the only thing that they have changed since production begin? My car is a Dec '03 production.

BTW, I already asked the dealer to apply all the TSB's on the car before delivery. Any tips welcome.

If your dealer is applying all the TSB's before delivery, then you have nothing to worry about. The reflash of the ECU is one of them. The only thing that has changed in production from the earlier models to the '05s is the exterior color choices (no yellow, new white color).

That's what I heard as well. But I guess we can never be sure, right? Maybe they have done some unannouced minor improvements/bug fixes in their production lines during the course of the year.

Get the VIN of your new car and check out the service bulletins at the link below to determine which ones you should be concerned with.

You should be able to ask your service manager and/or salesperson to print out a copy of all the warranty/TSB work attached to your VIN. This will determine if you have had the MSP04 (latest M-flash) applied to your vehicle...
