Just like you said-if he's a pain-then that is what I am speaking of. So in essence, he does not pick fights but now I do? WTF?

Well, in his defense he has been posting here for a long, long time...and he has gotten much better at being an equal opportunity offender.

In the last 24 hours you've gone into 3 of the threads I've posted in trying to start something with me when I was just staying on topic and expressing my views. No mention of the topic at hand, just a jab at me.

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...690#post796690

This is just the last day, and you've done it repeatedly since you've REjoined this site. Grow up man, I'm not your enemy, I'm just an oppinionated person that knows a fair amount about cars. I think you'll also notice in those links that some people agree I'm making valid points while you're making no point or contribution to the thread other than trying to start a fight with me. You may think you're on some crusade against my "crap" yet you've done nothing to point out what's crap about it, you seem to have a hard time grasping the whole point counterpoint thing when it comes to arguments.

I hate that I even have to do this but feel like I should defend myself. Especially since I was fully planing to ignore you after Elara warned you, yet you still felt the need to carry on.

Ike-save your garbage for a PM. Not everyone wants to read your novels. Second of all, I never rejoined this site. There was already a Rowdy before I got here as it wouldnt take the regular Rowdy when I tried to join. So get your facts straight. You have no valid remarks to make to me regarding contributions as yours are solely to cause problems. I simply am one of those who was and is tired of it.

Elara-if you read the forum rules #2 and #4 are regularly broken by this guy.

guys, shut the hell up and leave it for PMs.

i see alot around here in southern california(la county) and thier pretty common now, but still not nearly as much as its competitors. id be happy if the numbers stayed low as the awe factor will linger on a little longer but if they shoot up suddenly...oh well, the compliments were fun while they lasted

Not a chance that the RX8 becomes common.

First, it has a relatively narrow appeal. Until recently, the sport coupe market was DEAD. Only in the last 2 or 3 years has there been a modest rebirth. You still don't see the Celica/Supra coming back. So cars of this genre are relatively rare to begin with. Second, many folks just don't shop Mazda. Even the "meat & potatoes" Mazdas (3 and 6) are much less popular than the competition (Camry, Accord, Civic, etc.). Last, the RX8 is a unique looking car. Not everyone likes it the wheel well arches. I'm not 100% sure about them myself!.

What's funny is I didn't like the RX8's looks when it first came out. Especially the wheel arches. I guess it had to grow on me and it did. :D

That sounds good and all but if Mazda gets their wish there will be 30k new RX-8s on the road per year in North America. They fell a little short the first year and sales seem to be on the decline but even if they fall 10k short per year 20k per year of a model isn't exactly uncommon.

I live in downtown Philly...and I see 2 RX8s in passing, both on the same block near my friends house. I rarely see others around, but really I could care less. I I never talk about my car being rare or whatever. I enjoy seeing others on the road!

"Hey buddy, sweet ride! So whats the deal, a quart every 1,000 miles?"

The 8's are running in a nice production range: small enough to be uncommon (but not rare), but large enough to warrant continued production and aftermarket parts. I like not seeing myself on the road all the time. No daily sightings here (for now). 8 numbers are running a lot like the 350z, so that's how common we'll be in a few years. Regardless, it'll always drive like a dream, and that's the point.

If the sales numbers drop too much, the 8 goes the way of the FD and the aftermarket will tank. So make sure your friends are buying! I can't imagine the subsequent years selling more cars/year, unless Mazda miraculously uncorks 300hp for free. I'm hoping for 20-25,000 a year to keep things rolling.

intresting comment G, you seem quite correct too, but i think because of declining sales it may not be long for longer than 6 or 7 years

Actually, I agree with G-ReX: the RX8 isn't rare, but is uncommon.

I've read conflicting reports on sales expectations and numbers. They produced 100,000 units world-wide in 18 months, but what were Mazda's targets and how many RX8s have they sold per month since mid-2003 in the USA?

They had a target of 18k units in North America for the remainder of 03 and 30k units per year following that. They fell a little short of both goals but don't remember the exact figures.

They have sold 38,666 since July 03.

About 1933 per month average. Best month Mar 04 they sold about 3800 and worst month Jan 05 was 1000 cars

How have the 8's numbers been over the last few months. I used to check this site almost every month to see how the car was doing, but after I bought my evo instead of an 8 , I come by less and less. (if the dealer wouldnt have lied after we had a deal, I would be in a rx8 right now, put the deposit down and everything...but that is another story.)

But anyway, its good to see Ike still here though and still doing his thing:D I remember his first few post. Two years have flew by.

Judging from Jan. figures not so hot, which shocks me a bit considering you can get a new RX-8 for dirt cheap now.

Are you sure that's actual sales and not production? Kind of strange that it would suddenly drop in half. If it's production, that may have been due to the fire (?)

Billdo, I haven't seen that face in a while.

Haha :D redneck man has to stop by every so often to see what's going on. It sucks that I didnt get the 8 but the evo is no slouch though , so I am happy with the way it worked out.

Well if the other dealerships are using the same methods to sell cars as my local guy, then its no wonder that sales are down. This guy pissed away a sale for 500 extra bucks. Dont lie after the deal has been made.

They produced 100k RX8s in 18 months, which is 5.5k per month. The drop-off is normal for Jan.

Shouldn't be shocking... the RX8 doesn't even have all-weather tires and Jan is generally the worst month for this type of car. Feb was higher by 40% and Mar should be higher than that (the sales trend is usually May > Apr > Mar > Feb > Jan).
