RX8 Personal Experience with Mods(Tampa,FL)
Hello Everyone,
i know this topic is discussed quite often but its easier to ask the question and get a direct answer than look for hours. I bought 2006 RX8 6spd manual with 63k on the clock, from what i can tell it was very well maintained. i purchased with a it a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty that covers the complete engine, transmission, rear axle assembly, steering system, and air conditioning system. i also just read that Mazda extended the limited warranty to 100k which is nice to know. So far im just learning about this motor and how it needs to be maintained, im a mechanic and built Jeeps for years but im now moving back into the car world. i love this little car so far. I am looking into exhaust jut to give it a bit more sound and to get rid of the cat converter. from what i have gathered so far it it holds heat once it starts to clog up causing excess wear on the motor, the kit im looking into and like the most is a Megan Racing OE-RS full kit http://www.meganracing.com/product_d...d=201&catid=15 Other than the exhaust im not sure what is a worth while investment. My question is simple, what mods have you done, and whats your opinions on there benefits. I like to just get direct feed back on things. I live in the Tampa,FL area. not sure if there is any guys around that do any kinds of local meets or anything. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...burning008.jpg |
:bigok: good thread. I'm looking for the same answers.

Until you fully understand how to maintain the car don't look into mods yet. Keep searching. This forum is surprisingly very friendly to n00bs. As for the meets, check your regional section sub-forum. |

This is a terrible way to start any thread.
Anything you read is direct feedback if it's a first hand account. Just because you didn't ask the question directly doesn't mean the answer received is any less valid then when someone else did. As for the meets, check your regional section sub-forum. im a ASE diesel mechanic, so maintenance isnt a problem, and i am super busy so i dont have time to search all over the site. answers like that are un necessary and if you feel like that you should just not comment... thanks to those who are offering something useful to the thread |

I don't have time to look up information and re-type it for you. I don't have the time to copy and paste it either. You might have gotten a real reply from at least someone had you not said "I don't want to look for it." most people give you something to go on, even if it is just a link to click on. You kind of bent yourself over, and your further replies are helping you grab your ankles. |

We do like to help for the most part, but we don't like to spoon feed. There's a difference. In the amount of time you've spent defending yourself, you could have found your answers. There all in stickies. I'm glad to see that you're searching through now though.
My advice: read the New and Potential Owners sticky. |
i have been reading thru there. not trying to get off to a bad start here. Just trying to talk to some people about this car lol

has links to other threads that talk about/compair specific mods like springs, exhausts etc. its a sticky under Aftermarket Performance Modifications. |

Nice exhaust, I could'nt find any 8 sound clips.
At least you dont have to perform a DPF regen on that one:lol2: |
Hello, my experience is completely opposite. I've been a long time rotary owner and I just got my first Jeep (94 Cherokee).

Wow. This forum seems to have devolved into some sort of contest to see who can be the biggest asshat.
To the OP's question: the Renesis is pretty much at its' limit in terms of tuning and does not respond well to mods in general. The standard "upgrades" such as intake and exhaust will result in more noise (an unmuffled rotary is EXTREMELY loud) and a couple of horsepower (literally, maybe 2 to 5). Frankly, unless you really like loud, your modding dollars are best spent elsewhere. |
I live in the bay area. There are a few Rx8 friends that are around too. If you do need help please feel free to pm me. Ignition is going to be the best bang for the money here. Bhr makes a great kit. It's a good place to start
|
ill look into that ignition, yea i want a better sounding exhaust just nothing to crazy loud, but i dont mind a little bit of noise lol im used to 35in tires humming down the road so i can handle quite a bit before it bothers me lol
|
i got all the mods. really what do you want to know???
beers  |

A catless or high flow cat midpipe will give you the most performance, and a little bit more volume out of your exhaust. Get a quality unit like the BHR or Racing Beat units. Just a straight pipe, or an Agency Power midpipe will be raspy, regardless of the rest of the exhaust. The Racing Beat cat back is one of the quieter ones out there and has a nice tone to it if you don't want loud but more noise.
|
For a lot less money you can get the turbo XS exhaust with free Race pipe. Which fits your needs. I have it on my 8 and love it. I also just got my BHR ignition kit in the mail. Can't wait to put that on.

just run open manifold it's sweet.....wow.....
