RX8 going in for a recall

I took my car to the dealer ship, for an oil change, and they say there is a recall on the RX8 from mazda. Something about flashing or reprogramming the ecu. They say if every is fine with the ecu good. If not they are going to swap the engine with a new one. Has anyone brought there car in for this recall. If so, how did it go? Did they replace the engine or did they flash the ecu, and everything is fine. They also, said that if they are going to replace the engine, they said, that more oil would have to go into the combustion engine. IF I get this engine replaced with a new one. Will this new engine, be the same as the old one. Or will it a faster engine with more horsepower. Im assuming because they said more oil would have to go in, so im thinking its going to be an enhanced engine. With my mods added to them. They will give me a rental to. So whats up with this tsb. Anybody get this done, and got there engine swapped. They said it was done on some 04's RX8. I dont no, i dont mind if they have to replace the engine. It sounds like more insurance for me, not with car insurance, but better reliability with this new so called modified engine, im assuming it will be cause I think so. Any thoughts on this? Im thinking its going to be a 07 engine maybe not. But could be. Im looking forward to it. :mdrmed:

It's not a special engine, it's the same one you currently have. The PCM reprogram is what is going to cause the increase in oil combustion. If you read a little, you will find dozens of threads on this topic already.
